I have exactly the same problem, tiny drop of water, completely not working....also i refuse to take a tissue to my Intous - there must be a better way.

could it dry out on it's own and be OK...Is that wishful thinking?

    What shall I do?

Someone spilled a cup of coffee on my Intuous3 and now it does not work - the power LED does not even shine. I have left it to dry out and opened it up (as much as I was able to) to clean it, but it seems to have no power now. I assume the liquid messed up a power component inside it. :(

I would completely disassemble it and dry it out with tissue and a hair dryer.

Noooooooooooooo! me too :'(

- hang on!
I opened it up (almost destroyed it in the process) dried it out with a hairdryer for some minutes and it works great!
Be VERY careful when opening it because there's a short and fragile copper ribbon connecting the circuit board (fixed to the top piece) to a loose shield plate at the back. It's connections are on the side of where USB cable goes into the the tablet so open it from the other side in a tilting way, just dont try and pull the cable side of the tablet away from its other half. There are clips under the tablet you can use after undoing the screws to split the two pieces.

Good luck!

Wacom Intuos 3 problems

Hi Bengref
Just talked to WACOM USA about a similar (but not exactly the same) problem with my Intuos 3. One of their procedures was;

go to the ALL Programs directory,

go to the the WACOM TABLET directory

open the WACOM Tablet Properties window

click on the "About" button

while holding down the CTRL key, click on the "Diagnose" button

click on the "recalibrate" button

Another procedure

go to the All Programs Directory

go to the WACOM Tablet Directory

click on the :WACOM Table Preference File Utility"

Under "My Preferences" click on remove

Good Luck

I can't install my Intuos3 onto Vista

I don't think there are any programs for the Wacom. I don't see any on my computer. Open photoshop and see if the tablet works in there.

Hello! I own a Intuos3 Wacom tablet and I am having problems with it. My old laptop did not recognize discs, so I installed my tablet using one of the drivers from the download section and it worked just...

I'm getting the same problem - for some reason it's removed all pen pressure sensitivity recognition from the tablet. I'm going to try re-installing the drivers tonight, I'll get back to you if I figure it out.

My Wacom Intuos3 tablet won't switch into pen mode

The winning answer came courtesy of Mr Benedikt Schmitt of Wacom Europe, who offered the following solution: from the Windows Device Manager, disable the “Wacom Virtual Hid Driver” device. (Go to Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Device Manager, find the driver, right-click it and choose “Disable”.) One reboot later (welcome to Windows-land, circa 2008?), everything works as desired. Pressure and tilt sensitivity inside Photoshop still work, and the pen functions just fine in the rest of the Windows desktop. The absolute mapping makes it an absolute pleasure to point quickly and precisely. It makes my laser mouse feel rather clumsy navigating a large 24′ screen!

Installation problem

After much reading and searching and not finding anything I decided just to download a newer driver from their site It worked perfect! So the CD that came with the tablet is probably out dated!

My Wacom Intuos3 tablet won't switch into pen mode

I had the same problem with my Intuos3 on Vista. Tech support suggested the following.

Do this.....Go to Start--->control panel---->system(in classic view)---->device manager--->click on "human interface devices"--->then click on "Wacom virtual HID driver" and right click on that and disable it. Your computer will ask you to restart and you will want to do that.

Everything works fine now.
