All the Burners click when I just turn on 1 knob

I just installed my Jenn-Air JDR8895AAS it only connected electrically at this point, the Gas company is coming Monday to but after i plugged it in I turn 1 of the burner knobs and they all started clicking, this actually happens no matter what knob I turn, is this normal? I was under the assumption that only 1 burner (the burner you want on) should be igniting.

Yes; all the igniters light at once, even if you only trying to light one burner.

The manual tells you this will happen. Just adjust the flame for your intended use and start cooking

Jenn air downdraft cooktop. We had a new Jenn Air

Hi,

This is normal, Jenn Air along with many manufactures use one ignition module for all the burners. So when you turn one knob on all the ignitors on top will spark but gas will only flow to the burner with the knob on.

Here is a copy paste from a Jenn Air Owners Manual, I do not have your model number so I cannot be sure this is the exact phrase in your book.

I hope this helps!

To Set:
1. Push in and turn knob counterclockwise to light the burner.
All surface burners will click. Only the burner that has been
turned on will produce a flame.
2. Turn knob to anywhere between HIGH and LOW. Use the
following chart as a guide when setting heat levels.

Top burners spark intermittently with burner valves shutoff

Remove the burner caps (where the gas and flame come out) and wash in warm soapy water, using a plastic toothbrush like brush to scrub thoroughly.

Also clean/scrub the burner bases and ignition knob on the top of the cooktop.

When you reassemble, make sure the burner caps are properly seated in the burner bases.

Igniter of back burner dies not click or light

I had the same issue with washing the top with water and cleaning solution. I had arching, eventually one burner failed to ignite. I tried the above solution and it did not work. Remove the ceramic top on the burner that will not ignite. Turn on another working element. Do you see the igniter working?

If so slowly turn on the gas on the failed burner and it will ignite. I'm looking into what component automatically controls the igniting and gas release when the knob is turned on.
