Re: hitachi 65xwx20b convergence

Your message says you "replaced stk392-150", did you replace both of the stk`s or just one of them??? One is for RGB vertical the other is for RGB horizontal, you should always replace both stk`s as a set, Hitachi recommends you use a "replacement kit"
part number X480306", this kit includes both stk`s with a new & supposedly improved set of stk`s as well as all resistors that are required for proper set-up, they strongly recommend you change all of the parts in their kit. The only other thing besides IC`s & resistors that could cause your problem is:
1) bad dcu output (you need a scope to check this)
2) you`ve lost either the +15 volt line or the -15 volt line to the IC`s, "Fxxx" chemical fuse open in power supply.

My 6 year old 65xwx20b tv convergence problem

Good Day,

This is a common problem with this TV, but there is an upgrade to correct the CONVERVGENCE circuit problem.
If you want to repair this concern yourself: Contact: B&D ENTERPRISES,
1-800-458-6053, and ask for KIT10 for your Hitachi TV.
If you want some else to do the repair for you call an Authorized Service Center.
Needs convergence IC's

Good Luck,BIG IRISH.

Blue lamp is not in focus

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- (or hitting Magic Focus for some Hitachi’s)

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

12 years old rear projection, the blue + won't move left

First check that no resistors are burnt near the convergence ICs, of course with the back open. Next tap on the metal heatsink and see if the blue pops straight, if it does you could just solder the pins on the IC nearest the blue convergence yoke plug, soldering is a trained skill and would involve pulling the chassis back and flipping it upward without breaking any wires or components. If you see discolored resistors in the right section the ICs are shorted and need replacing.
If nothing is loose and everything looks OK, you may have a bad remote button (probably not, but hey) . as a last resort you could try moving the blue yoke centering tabs, this would move all the blue at once so if its bowed anywhere it would not solve your issue. If this helps great , if not post more info for more help.

Not able to adjust red convergence on top or bottom

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms

  • Screen may look distorted or warped

You have bad convergence IC,I'm afraid. You will need to have both of them replaced. this job should run you about 300 bucks or so to have them replaced and the set realigned. DO NOT try to adjust the convergence inside of the set before replacing the IC's, as this will only make the job cost you more. Good Luck
