Question about Rockford Fosgate T10001BD- Car Audio 500watts Mono Power Amplifier Car Audio Amplifier

Wiring I have three Maaudio subs, there dual 4ohm voice coils. I need to know how to wire them so I can get a 4ohm load, I know how to wire two of the speakers to get the 4ohm load but I need to know how to get the three to achieve this.

Re: wiring

The T10001 can drive a load lower than 4 ohms. Wire the coils of the individual speakers in series to make each speaker 8 ohms. Then wire all 3 speakers in parallel and connect them to the amp. This will give you a 2.6 ohm load.

OK what you are saying now is that your speakers are dual voice coil; models? 4 Ohms per Coil? I have always used single 4 Ohm Voice ciol speakers since amps are mostly based on 4 Ohm outputs. but you can get 8 Ohm dual voice coil subs also. With 8 Ohms per coil you can get 4 Ohms if you parallel the wires. What is best for you and will get you the most stable power and still will be in the specs of that amp is to run the amp in BRIDGED MODE running each subs voice coils in series with each other then run those 2 subs in parallel to the amplifier giving it a 4 Ohm load. So, your will have two sets of wires from your amp 1 for each speaker. Then you will take a short piece of wire that will connect the + to the - of each voice coil then hook up the wires from your amp to each sub What it will be is 4 Ohms + 4 Ohms = 8 Ohms per speaker the 8 Ohms in parallel each speaker to the Bridged amp output using just the + from one channel and the - from the other will give you a total of 4 ohms and power out put of 600 Watts so that ends up being 150 watts per voice coil or 300 watts each speaker

Just wire one voice coil each into left and right rear respectively, in series with the original rears or if this is too quiet, wire both voice coils in parallel together and connect as per original single coil unit.

As they are 4ohms each they can simply be connected as simple speakers on each rear channel output, since thats exactly what they are, capacitors are used inside to make them react to bass frequencies only. Wiring them up is no different to wiring up a pair of 6x9's.

Hello brianmitchel,

From what I am able to determine, the Orion HCCA250 is a bridgeable 2-channel amp that is stable to 1ohm when bridged and outputs 800 watts RMS into that load.

The JL W6's in both 10" and 12" versions are dual voice coil with 4ohm coils so they can be wired to present either an 8ohm load (series) or a 2ohm load (parallel). They can handle 600 watts RMS.

With this combination, the best configuration would be to wire the sub voice coils in parallel for a 2ohm load and then parallel both subs to the amp bridged terminals for a final impedance of 1ohm. The subs will each be getting 400 watts.

In any event, I would not recommend running subs in series. There is some evidence for distortion being caused by something termed "back EMF".

Hello matt225281.

Since the Tantrum only lists specifications into a 4ohm load, you need to make sure that the final impedance of your DVC sub is 4ohms or greater. So a sub with either 2ohm or 4ohm voice coils needs to have the coils wired in series with a jumper between the positive of one coil to the negative of the other and the remaining positive and negative to the amp speaker terminals. Paralleling the voice coils will result in a 1ohm or 2ohm load to the amp and it will overheat, go into protection or possibly fail completely.

If your sub has 2ohm voice coils, the load will be 4ohms which allows the amp to produce maximum power. The final impedance with 4ohm voice coils will be 8ohms. The power will be reduced, but the amp will operate without overheating.

Either set of the speaker terminals on the amp can be used. They are connected internally so it doesn't matter which one you use.

Sony explode amp cuts out after bass hits and over current light comes on. its a xm-2150 gsx and when no speakers are connected the light dosent come on

Start by checking and making sure that you have excellent connections at power,ground, and signal. Depending on the voltage output of your rca wires if you are running rca's to your amp typicaly your amp gain should be only at half - you may be clipping the signal if you have the amp set too high. On your deck you will want your bass settings at only half -again too much boost will cause clipping at the amp. with all your settings adjusted and all possible connections checked- the only thing left to check is the compatibility of your subs in relation to the amp-by that im referring to the overall resistance-measured in OHMS that you are placing on the amp.Your amp is probably rated at about 150wattsx2 at 4 ohms or 200+watts x 2 into 2 ohms or 400-460watts into a 4 ohm bridged load. Look on the magnet of the speakers and find out if you have single coils or dual coils and see what the ohms(resistance) of each sub (or coils) are rated at- ideally you would want a set of dual voice coil 4ohm+4ohm per sub- that way you can match the subs better with your amp.---- Heres a scenario that may or may not apply to you- i see it all the time so im going to share it with you---- If you have a set of single voice coil 4 ohm subs and you are trying to run them wired in parallel to the amp in bridged -then that is why you amp is shutting down- you will have to wire the subs in series until you either get different subs that will yield an overall 4 ohm load -or find a different amp that will take a 2 ohm load - okay for now try wiring the subs in series and see if it still sends out an overcurrent light on you-good luck

Your Directed D2400 amp is CEA2006 Compliant. It is stable at 1ohm and will produce 1,200 watts into that load. So you want your subs wired as close to 1 ohm as possible.

The only 3500 watt Pioneer Premier series subs I could find were the models number TS-W3002D2 and TS-W3002D4 with dual 2ohm and dual 4ohm voice coils respectively. The wiring options for the D2's result in 0.5ohm (too low), 2 ohms, and 8ohms. Your best option would be the 2ohm configuration which would be voice coils in series and subs in parallel. Options for the D4's result in a 1ohm load and a 4ohm load. Your best option would be the 1ohm configuration which would be voice coils and subs parallel.

To see the wiring options, try Rockford-Fosgate's "wiring wizard".
Select 2 woofers and the appropriate voice coil impedance and quantity and click "search". It'll bring up all of the possible wiring configurations along with the final impedance load.

If you have the Kicker model number 06CVX122, with dual 2ohm voice coils, they can be connected to a mono amp at 2ohms. First jumper the voice coils in series, the dotted positive (+) to the undotted negative (-) (or vice versa). Each sub is now 4ohms. Then wire both of the remaining positives and negatives together on the amp terminals (in parallel). The amp sees a 2ohm load. Here's the diagram:

If you have the Kicker model number 06CVX124 with dual 4ohm voice coils, they cannot be wired to present a 2ohm load. They can only be wired as a 1ohm load (too low for the amp) or as a 4ohm load (at reduced power). Here is the diagram of the 4ohm wiring:

It's not really made to run a dual 2ohm sub. What you can do though is wire the sub like this:

we'll call you subs voice coil A and B. Wire it like this A's(+) to (+) on amp; then A's (-) to B's (+), then B's (-) to (-) on the amp. This is known as series / parallel wiring it will effectively make your amp see a 4ohm mono load.

How should I wire my 3 subs to the 500/1 amp???????

First of all how many ohm's are each subwoofer rated at . Are the subwoofers dual voice coil or single voice coil. Once I know that I can help you. I think the JL amp is not recommended below a 2ohm load.
