Blue spots on the screen

I recently purchase a few brand new items from Future Shop in Canada. The sale rep also included in the deal a Hitachi PJTX100 home theatre projector (Store display). Unfortunately, I notice some blue spots on the screen after it has been on for approx. half an hour. I had the unit cleaned (since it was very dirty used as a store display). The unit has approx. 2600 hrs. I have toned down on the 'blue' and seems to have somewhat rectified the problem. I notice the blue patches more so when watching sports. Is there any fix. Can the blue lens be 'bleeding' due to the excessive dust allowed when in use at the store. Many thanks.

I need a laptop fr personal purpose ... which brand would be best gr me

it really depends on your budget and what you want to use it for. i would suggest www.tigerdirect.com or .ca if you are in canada. they have lots of sales on laptops.

prices have dropped alot recently so you should be able to pick up a good deal. i would suggest an intel processor (dual core) with a minimum of 2 gb memory. again it depends on what you use it for but a 250 gb or higher hard drive is a good start.

robert

p.s. i've ordered a few things from tiger and the one issue i have with them is that they do a horrid job of packing items. be that as it may my laptop i purchased from there survived them shipping it and has been to australia and back as carry on and no issues.

Blue spot and vertical smudge in center of screen. Problem comes after tv is running. Tv is Hitachi 50V500A Projection. Thank You

The problem is your light engine is failing. The part number for this is UX22201DR and is available for purchase with the following link. It runs $334 dollars and really is a part that needs to be replaced by a technician due to the complexity in tear down to remove it. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thanks...

You will need a new optic block assembley. This has been a common problem found in all brands of LCD projection type television sets.

Cause for this is fine dust and particles gets "cooked" onto special lenses and even on individual lcd panels. I haven't found a way to clean each optic peices back to original. I usually find the colored filters in most of them had changed to a brownish, hence blocking that color from getting through, leaving a pink, or bluish spot like hue, or even in some cases a starfeild like patern.

Only thing can be done is to search the Internet for a new or refurbished optic block assembly to your make and model.

In the shop I work for, I've seen literally hundreds of these sets, all brand who makes LCD projections, develop this kind of problem. I've exchanged optic blocks on everyone I've gotten since 2001 - 2002 and so far never seen one comming back with same problem twice.

If you are good with following instructions, then it maybe cheaper for you to purchase a service manual with all the parts blow up, access to "Service Man Mode" with all adjustment codes, then purchasing a new or rebuilt optic block assembly... (Some manufacturers will send you a different optic block assembly of wich you must enter the Service Man Mode (SSM), for making proper adjustments per advice from their techs).

Changing one can be a real chore, so it maybe in your favor to higher a competent tech who can do the job right at a good price. If you can't find a personal tech, then shop will be next in line, however it maybe a little expensive.

You have a defective light engine and you do not have to be under warranty for Hitachi to replace this part. We just went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this problem but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once a tech comes out and confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (cost $1500).

Here is the deal, if you're under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install. If you're not under warranty, all you pay is the install. Our install cost $400. Others on this site have paid $200. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for the light engine part...you do not. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it for free. Also, deal only with Hitachi customer realations number that I listed. Good Luck

If you've done an I2c reset then your problem is most likely the light engine. Actually the lcd panel inside the engine but the procedure is still the same - replacement of the LE..
