Exhaust fan comes on when burner turned on

Jenn-Air exhaust fan comes on every time the left two burners are turned on. It seems to work fine with right two burners. What's up with that?

Re: exhaust fan comes on when burner turned on

The left side is set for your grill. There is apparently a switch under the left side top / front of the cooktop. The aeration tray has a prong on one end that fits into a hole in the front end of the burner basin and activates the switch which stops the fan from coming on when using the burners and allows the fan to run when using the grill. Try switching sides with the aeration trays as one might make better contact than the other.

The left side is set for your grill. This is normal.

Just installed a new Jenn-Air Model JED8430. Burners work well but fan will not turn on. Two black wires and a ground coming out of my wall....presumedley no neutral. Any suggestions

I suspect that the two black wires were attached to a wall switch or a wall times, along with the ground.

Check to see if you have a hot wire there. then temporarily wire the two black wires together and see if the fan comes on, i believe it will.

Jenn air fan comes on with rear burners (elec) can I disable?

Perhaps, but sound safety says no. This generates a lot of heat in an enclosed space; the fan may be a nuisance but it is needed to keep the unit from getting too hot. Hope this helps!

Burner clicks a long time before igniting you can smell the gas

Not sure about what part 1 is about. #2 indicates a failing ignitor gap or a bad gas mix. Get professional assistance.

Ventilation system on Jenn Air CVG4280

My Jenn-Air had the same problem. When you install the drip pan for the burner module, there is a "finger" on the pan that is inserted into a hole in the front of the stove. If you look into that hole, you will see a lever switch. The finger on the drip pan on the burner module is supposed to push that lever switch down and turn the fan off, but over time the lever gets pushed down further and ultimately it does not get activated when the drip pan is installed.

You can either replace the lever switch, or you can try to pull it back into place and tighten the two small screws that hold it in place. Actually, I chose a third option and attached a small, flat spring to the finger on the drip pan.
