Recently downloaded the firmware updated for Samsung BD-P1200 Blue Ray player. Burned an image to cd. Followed the instructions to do cd update. But the player never shut down and now on power up .....the message load appears and you can not open cd tray to make another attempt at update or play a DVD. Is there a way to bootstrap the player and reload the default firmware from an eprom or is the unit now rendered useless. Have a lot of experience doing firmware updates and this is a first. Tried to update to ver 2 firmware update. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
I would strongly recomend that you put the unit under the rear tires of a large truck and back over it, that should take care of the problem.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I had the same exact problem happen to me today. I called customer service and while they were very polite they told me my labor warranty was up and that I would need to pay if they were going to fix it. I would love to be able to fix it myself but the unit is pretty much useless.
They told me to hit the fast forward button on the unit for 4-5 seconds, but that did nothing.
I had the exact same issue and looking for a solution. Followed the instruction (on December 11,2007) as the first review above and the same symptoms, afterwards. Power off and and on and will see the "Loading" message on the player but nothing happens and cannot open the drive to re-initiate another attempt at the firmware upgrade. Need to do the firmware upgrade since I'm experiencing issues playing the Pirates of the Carribean #3 and Ratatouille - can't by pass the menu. I select play and nothing happens. If I don't find a solution within a week I will be returning in for a Sony or Pioneer. Too bad, I really enjoy the DVD upconversion of the Silicon Optix on the BD-P1200.
I had the exact same problem today.
