Question about Televison & Video

LG 20LS7D flat panel LCD TV

A black box keeps popping up in the middle of the picture approximately 4" x 8". Changing channels will make it go away, but after a while the black box is back and it isn't on any particular channel. Any ideas?

same problem... JVC 37 in. not sure of the model ## .

mine started doing the box after the kids turned on CC by mistake and we turned it off. I had to turn it back on to make the box stop. i don't want CC turned on but its the only way to fix the problem so far.. and no where in my CC options is there an OFF option. so now that it's on i cant make it stop.

Same issue here. It's only on a few channels but the black box pops up and goes away when you hit any button that brings up something on the screen like "Input" or the volume etc. however it comes right back.

ihave the same problem with a 42" Norcent television I bought in 2004. The black box is in the middle of the screen. I tried hitting the reset button on the back. But when I turn it back on everythings fine for a few seconds and then the black box is back in the middle of the screen and not the bottom like a CC box would be. It's very annoying. Any ideas how to fix it?

Hi, go into your menu and turn off closed captioning, sometimes listed as "CC" instead of spelled out "closed captioning", this will fix ya, Happy Holidays, BMW Rider

Black box in middle of screen/picture

Closed Caption function to that channel you select is ON. Make it OFF, when you are in that channel which displays this black box. It will be best to reset the TV to its factory settings first, and then re-tune it. for more details, refer its user manual.

Why is there a black box that appears in the middle of picture?

what you are experiencing is call closed caption text.
All you need to do is turn off closed caption.
Sometimes there is a CC button on the remote and other times
you will have to use the menu options to find it.
That should take care of the issue,

Black square box pops up in the middle of tv screen.

It is most likely related to the Closed Captioning option on your TV. Go into settings and make sure that CC is turned off, or make sure it's set to CC1. What you are probably seeing is the "text" option included in the CC options.

I have a LG plasma T.V., model 42PB4D. Black box/middle of screen

Try this:

In the menu go to CC and set the TV to CC1 as this is a text box appearing for captions. Hope this works!

BLACK BOX APPEARS IN LOWER HALF OF SCREEN. It GOES AWAY BRIEFLY WHEN CHANGING CHANNELS or adjusting settings.

You have a closed caption setting turned on to text. Its probably near your channel up or down button. Keep pressing it, it will cycle through text1, 2, 3, 4, cc1 and cc2 and off. When you get to off leave it for a few seconds and it should disappear.
