Hi,

If the dot is not visible in print, but only on the camera's screen, the its only the LCD that is faulty.

If the dot is visible on screens and in print, then yes, it could be the sensor. Try taking pictures without the digital zoom. Chances are the dot is only visible with the digital zoom because the picture is interpolated.

If all else fails, you can try cloning out the spot in an image editor on the computer.

What is the rate of continuous advance?

The speed is selectable from 3 types at the continuous advance. Continuous advance: Single shot AF: max. 1.8 fps (live view and anti-shake are activated for each frame. TIFF image cannot be taken), continuous AF: max. 1.9 fps (live view, AF, AE, anti-shake are activated for each frame. TIFF image cannot be taken.) Hi-Speed continuous advance: max. 2.7 fps (Anti-shake is activated for each frame. AF, AE, WB, and live view are fixed at the first frame. TIFF image cannot be taken.) UHS continuous advance: 7 fps. Telephoto images

The D-630 has a 3x optical zoom and a 4x seamless digital zoom. In order to use the digital zoom, press the OK/MENU button on the back of the camera. Press the right arrow key to access the Mode Menu. The first setting under the CAMERA tab is DIGITAL ZOOM. Press the right arrow key to highlight this setting and then press again to select ON. Press the OK/MENU button to set the DIGITAL ZOOM to remain ON. When you press the zoom button with the T on it, a zoom indicator will display on the right side of the LCD. The W represents a wider area of view as you zoom out, and the T represents telephoto as you zoom closer to the subject. When the zoom indicator is in the red zone, you are using the digital portion of the zoom. images taken in the digital zoom will appear “noisy” or “grainy” which is normal when using the DIGITAL ZOOM.
