I do not recommend removing the door from the oven. If you do, be sure you get the hignes and mounts exactly where they were, or you may have leakage.

The putty knife method should work. There is a choke cover or gasket that has to be removed, then you'll find hidden screws. The choke cover is the part that covers the edge of the opwning of the cooking cavity.
