F498 is a communication failure between DVD and Main micro. The only solution would be to resolder flash ROM on DVD PCB . If that does not work, you need to replace DVD pcb. However, 99% of the time resoldering would fix the problem.It's a job for an engineer with smd reflow equipment.The solder to the Flash ROM IC37001, needs to be reflowed.If it still won't power up, the decoder pcb. would be the next suspect.If you have electronics repair experience and would be able to do the repair, revert and i would be able to send you a link to buy service manual that would be required and would be able to add few more details.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Dvd rv32 keeps saying hot and wolnt play dvds

I think you mean the front display shows 'H07' which means the laser/spindle motor assembly (as one part - also known as a traverse unit) has failed. H07 is a common error code with the Panasonic series of DVD playback decks. Because the traverse unit is a multi-operation device, and because the player is a budget model, the repair/replacement of this part to restore your player back to fully functional condition as well as labour costs could prove expensive - hardly worthwhile. It seems Panasonic have been using substandard components within their products for years now, designed to fail just outside their minimum warranty period.

My Panasonic dvd-rv32 player (8 years old) functioned perfectly for last 8 years and I cannot get it to PLAY again. I inserted another DVD tonight (actually 3 DVD'S in case the DVD's were defective) and...

Spindle motor/laser assembly is faulty. This part is not repairable - it has to be replaced by an authorised service centre. It may not be economical via this route, since the unit is not a DVD recorder. H07 is an indication of the above issue. Cheaper to buy a new DVD player or recorder than trying to get the faulty one repaired outside warranty.

DVD olayer displays fault code F498. How do I fix it?

Error code F498 refers to "failure to process digital communication" which refers to solder failure of connectors, PCBs, laser eye and other major component interaction. It is a fairly common Panasonic problem.

A logical course of action is to present it to an authorized Service Center for appropriate action.

Your alternate options are:
  • Try a reset. Unplug from the mains for 30 minutes, hoping that it is just a system's glitch;
  • open the unit and check for any cold solder, flexible cable connectors and other electrical joints;
  • seek the services of a qualified professional.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Faut F489

This is for code f489 as well as f498 F498 means a problem with flash eprom IC; meaning that unit is unable to read the basic instructions from the eprom IC. Can be cuased by several; may simply be a "bad connection issue" at the eprom Ic or somwhere in the Bus line--defective Ic or corrupted information which may or may not be recovered with a "service recovery" disc.(not an end user procedure) First step; try resoldering Eprom ic being careful not to bridge pins. second would be to take the unit to a AUTHORIZED ONLY repair shop for a firmware or eeprom update. Good Luck
