If you can check you have DHCP and NAT enabled on you router and your laptop is configured for DHCP .Also try the following:
1.On command prompt type ipconfig /all
2.Check the IP address assign to your laptop do the same on your Pc and compare the IP.

3. If the IP is the same check your firewall setting. Assuming the IP is the same ping the Gateway IP .If this is successful the disable the firewall,The best way to try this is to disable the firewall temporary.
4.Remember to reenable the Firewall

Unable to connect to home ATT 2wire with new Belkin USB wireless

AT&T 2Wire routers function as both routers and modems. You can disable the router functionality by placing the router in bridge mode. In bridge mode, the 2Wire device functions only as a modem and forwards all incoming traffic to the device behind the 2Wire router. For example, you can use a different router instead of the 2Wire's built-in router by enabling bridging mode -- the router behind the 2Wire device will get the external IP address, and the 2Wire router won't interfere.
Step 1Type "Homeportal/management" (without quotes) into your Web browser's address bar and press "Enter" to access the Management page in the 2Wire router's Web interface.
Step 2Provide your 2Wire router's custom password, if you set one. The router comes with no password set.
Step 3Click "Configure" under Broadband on the Management page.
Step 4Type a period (".") into the "Disable PVC Search" box.
Step 5Set the value of the "VPI" box to "0" and the value of the "VCI" box to "35".
Step 6Set the "Connection Type" to "Direct IP" and click "Submit."
Step 7Click the "Configure Services" link on the Management page.
Step 8Uncheck "Enable Routing" and click "Submit."

I have the Gateway 2wirewireless-G modem and router, how can i connect another desktop in another room to it?

To connect your computer to your wireless network sammiller001_4.gif
1. Right-click the wireless network icon in the lower right corner of your screen, and then click View Available Wireless Networks. sammiller001_5.gif
2. The Wireless Network Connection window appears and displays available networks. If you don't see your network (should be named something like 2wire), click Refresh network list in the upper left corner. Click your network, and then click Connect in the lower right corner. sammiller001_7.gif
3. Windows XP prompts you to enter a key. The key should be one of the numbers printed on the bottom of your 2wire modem/router. sammiller001_8.gif
4. Windows XP will show its progress as it connects to your network. If the Wireless Network Connection window continues to show Acquiring Network Address, you may have mistyped the encryption key-click Cancel and return to step 3. After you're connected, you can close the Wireless Network Connection window. Now you're ready to browse the internet!

Linksys wireless adapter not being recognized by 2wire wireless

1. uninstall the WLAN monitor from add/remove programs.
2. restart computer. it should say "found new hardware" (for the WMP54GS)
3. insert the installation CD for the WMP54G, but make sure that you do not install the WLAN monitor. just install the drivers for the card.
Then let windows control the wireless.

2wire 1701 HG Gateway wireless not working

Hi,

There could be a lot of possibilities why you lost your connections at the same time. Could be windows update or changes had been made in your 2wire 2701 HG.Its impossible to say that your wireless adapters turned bad all at the same time.As what you observed , wireless light is off meaning your 2wire doesnt detect any wireless connection. You can try reconnecting them 1 at a time by going to your wireless connection tool or network connections.

If that didnt help, you can use your PC w/c is connected using the USB connection. Using this step, you 'l have a chance to edit and view your wireless network. For you to access your 2wire you must know what your 2wire address {default gateway}. Using your hardwired pc go to start > run > type in cmd then hit enter > on the Dos command screen type in ipconfig and hit enter> youl see your default gateway . It would look like this 192.168.1.254 for example cos sometimes it would vary depending what ISP you have, Open your fav browser and on your address bar type in your default gateway. That would lead you to your 2wire page, there youl have a chnace to view you home network. Check if your wireless encryption and you network name if everything is still the same. {Best thing is to change your wireless name or SSID. Then try to reconnect on your wireless connection for each computer and make sure you have your wireless encryption.

Hope that helps. Pls let me know asap if you need clarifications.

Cheers.

I need a CD to install but i dont have one

The problem is, that 2wire and AT&T, like most companies that get too big for their britches, **** big fat eggs! I found the drivers by using archive.org to view a past version of "www.2wire.com/?p=410", which looks to be the last version of their legacy drivers page. The driver and manual links for this adapter and others are there, but archive.org doesn't host files. You have copy and paste just the 2wire part of the direct links for the drivers from archive.org. Not surprisingly, the files are still right where they were on 2wire.com, they have just removed the page that links them.
At some point 2wire will probably remove the files, but until then, here they are: Windows XP http://2wire.com/pages/drvrs/twwgusb_2.3.1.3.exe http://2wire.com/pages/pdfs/USB_Adapter_Driver_Installation.pdf

Win98, Linksys USB Adapter, 2wire router... no internet

hi!
sorry if it took a while to get an answer to your question...

anyway, let's begin by ensuring that you have completed installing the drivers & software of your wireless adapter.

launch the linksys wireless program by clicking on the icon for the linksys on the system tray or generally, this can also be launched from the programs menu after clicking on the windows start button.

on the main screen for the linksys, there are 3 tabs: link information, site survey & profiles. select the profiles tab

on the profiles screen, click on the new button to create a new profile. name the profile with a customized ID & click ok.

under choose a net type, select infrastructure mode. enter the SSID (this is your customized ID created on the new profile) & click next.

under network setting select obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP) & click on next.

under security settings choose "disabled" for WEP and leave the rest of the fields blank.

confirm the settings by clicking on yes.

note: you don't need a driver for your 2wire router, ensuring that the 2wire is already working with the ethernet connection.
also make sure you are able to see your devices on the mdc page, go to homeportal/management, local network> device list.

i assume that the mac g4 is able to connect wirelessly to this 2wire modem, am i correct?

please let me know if you have any issues... we'll work this one out, ok?
