If you can check you have DHCP and NAT enabled on you router and your laptop is configured for DHCP .Also try the following:
1.On command prompt type ipconfig /all
2.Check the IP address assign to your laptop do the same on your Pc and compare the IP.
3. If the IP is the same check your firewall setting. Assuming the IP is the same ping the Gateway IP .If this is successful the disable the firewall,The best way to try this is to disable the firewall temporary.
4.Remember to reenable the Firewall

you need to check if you have the wirelees hot spot enabled
do it following the next steps
1- Press the WPS button on the nbg-417n, you should see that the wlan led blinks
2- Check that your wirelees adapter is enabled in your lap
then it should connect to the net
if you still have issues check the next document
If you want to know your Access Point it is the Name of your Network or Network Key (SSID). Usually the Network Name of 2wire router is 2WIRE and the Last 3 digits of the Serial Number of the Router. The Serial Number is located at the side of the router you will find a Sticker and look for the Serail Number you can also see there the Wireless Network Key under the Bar Code. Another Procedure to find the information of the router is to access it. listed below are the steps on how to access the router.
If you want to connect to the router wirelessly you need to know the SSID or the Name of the Router (Nework Name) and the Network Key or Wep Key. The Default Wep Key is the 10 digit key located on the bottom sticker of the router. It is near the Bar Code. You can also personalize the Network Key by simly accessing the router. I've listed the steps on how to access the router incase the Network Key on the sticker is not working.

The Wireless light only stays solid on the 2Wire HG-B Gateway when there is something keeping a wireless connection to it. IF there is nothing connected wirelessly, it will not stay on.
Also another note, I had a problem with my MAC and my Windows VISTA 64 BIT Laptop not being able to keep a stable connection with the default wireless username and password.
To get into the 2wire:
Open a Internet window
Home network "At the top of the page"
then click on wireless settings "Also at the top of the page"
Then you are in the wireless config to change the information.
What i had to do is change the wireless authentication to WPA-PSK and change the wireless password (Use a 10 digit Number as the pass-code, a phone # would be a good suggestion) , what you also need to do is change the name of the network along with the channel of the wireless, it helps if you take it all the way up to 11.
Then you should be smooth sailing all the way. :-)
hi! sorry if it took a while to get an answer to your question...
anyway, let's begin by ensuring that you have completed installing the drivers & software of your wireless adapter.
launch the linksys wireless program by clicking on the icon for the linksys on the system tray or generally, this can also be launched from the programs menu after clicking on the windows start button.
on the main screen for the linksys, there are 3 tabs: link information, site survey & profiles. select the profiles tab
on the profiles screen, click on the new button to create a new profile. name the profile with a customized ID & click ok.
under choose a net type, select infrastructure mode. enter the SSID (this is your customized ID created on the new profile) & click next.
under network setting select obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP) & click on next.
under security settings choose "disabled" for WEP and leave the rest of the fields blank.
confirm the settings by clicking on yes.
note: you don't need a driver for your 2wire router, ensuring that the 2wire is already working with the ethernet connection. also make sure you are able to see your devices on the mdc page, go to homeportal/management, local network> device list.
i assume that the mac g4 is able to connect wirelessly to this 2wire modem, am i correct?
please let me know if you have any issues... we'll work this one out, ok?
