Question about Whirlpool SF367 Gas Kitchen Range
Whirlpool service sucks. I bought a new range on nov17 2007 and had it installed on Nov 21. The oven igniter did not spark from the get go. I phoned whirlpool the same day and they could not send a repairman out to me for 7 days.On Nov 27 ,the repairman stated it was the high voltage sending unit and he did not have it. He also stated that the oven was unsafe to use and shut off the gas to the whole range.When I again phoned Whirlpool they stated that the part would take 3 days to arrive and a repair man would come the following Mon. 6 more days. They did not care that the range was disconnected and that I couldnt cook for my family and they would not replace the stove.It took several more phone calls to upper management until Leons (the retailer where it was bought) replaced it for me on Nov 29.

I agree and understand your feeling. However, I would like to reassure you that you would have gotten the same service from any of the other manufacturers.
Whirlpool no longer has it's own service department, all repair work is done by seperate companies that contract. The bulk is done by A&E nationwide. Maytag has closed it's service department also, as has Frigidaire. GE still has some company employed techs, but only in select urban areas, most of their repair is also by contractors.
I have no stake in whirlpool or any appliance company, but as a repairman, I hear the same comments as yours almost everyday about one company or another.
The only retail company that offers repair service nationwide now is Sears, which also owns A&E factory services.
The management of the manufacturing companies have given up on the expense of keeping service departments because the stock analysts don't like seeing a company with a large customer service department and will shy away from investing in them. They want a company with low overhead and large profits, no one is interested in a company that tries to set a groundwork of support so that the company is still strong 5-10 years from now.
