Problem for Camcorders

New 840XHD Vivitar Camcorder. Can't get...
I have the 840XHD Vivitar Camcorder. It is only two months old. I have shot video several times with it. Playing back wass not a problem, via the LCD on the camcoder or via HDMI on my HD TV. However, I plugged it into my iMac computer with the USB cable to see if I could edit using iMovie. I could not with the native files (I have to convert them to QT with a 3rd party software). So, I unplugged the camcorder and now I can not turn it on. Nothing. Zilch. I plugged the camcorder into an AC outlet for a day to make sure it was fully charged, yet I still cannot turn it on. I cannot shoot or playback with it. If I plug it into a computer, I can see the files but when I unplug it, it's as dead as dead can be. What's up with this? Dave S.

- Actually, I'm now starting to think that somehow all files on both the internal drive and SD card were somehow erased. I do not know how. I did not erase them, just ejected the drives from the iMac so I could disconnect the camcorder. Now, when I hook up the camcorder to the iMac, there is nothing on the SD card and a folder marked DCIM on the internal drive, will not open and shows nothing is in it.Solution #1

Can you get into the main menu with the power converter? If so try to set all settings back to factory default.Or try using the power from the computer to do the same via USB.
