Question about Video Game Consoles

1 Answer

Video not displayed

I can't see anything on the screen. The game does load, you can hear the sounds perfectly, and I've already tried the reset procedure. Is there a video card that goes out and if so, what might be general idea of a cost estimate?

Ok, you are actually holding the power button down for too long. Please do the following to sort out the display on your PS3.

Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Press and hold the power button. It will beep once when you first press it, then beep again about 5 seconds later. Release the power button when you hear the second beep. The display will now reset and it should detect your HDMI display with no problem.

Hope this helps

Try a video reset:

While the PS3 is off (solid red led) hold down the power button until you hear the SECOND beep, quickly release.

Let me know if that solved your problem.

Ok i purchased the sony ps3 on december 2008 for xmas. it has been going perfectly until a month ago, when my dvds didnt work any more. the ps3 would come on and would go into home page with video, games,...

Well this sounds like a few possible things.

--Bad Bluray drive (95% sure)
--Video settings are messed up (55%not as sure about)

Generally if your system won't play Dvds but it will play games then your drive has gone bad unless you don't mind not watching dvds. To fix this it is pretty easy I myself do it frequently with my little biz. The part cost about $80 at I would gladly replace your drive for you and not charge you an arm and a leg!

As for the screen issue, it may be that your plugs arent in correctly, they could have gone bad, or your video settings aren't correct.

If your using the usual component cables (yellow red white) then you may want to look into getting an HDMI cord if your tv supports it. Better picture and sound quality from an already amazing system.

What has happend to me with my settings is that in the Main settings menu go under display and they should be an option about video output (or something similar) and you can change it to which ever you want. But if you can't get to it because the screen is blank then I'd say get an HDMI cable or a somposite cable (red blue green) to replace your component cable.

An easy way to reset your display settings on your system is to push the power button and hold for 5sec(while in standby mode) or until you hear 2 beeps (after the initial one from pushing the button) and then it should be reset.

I turn it on it works but i cant see the menu or select anything

Try reseting your display, to do this make sure the ps3 is off, then turn it back on and continue to hold the power button until you hear the beeps. Then your display will be reset. This should do the trick.

Playstation turns on, but doesnt display anything on screen

First thing to try is a manual video reset.

While the PS3 is off (red led)

Hold down the power button until you hear the second beep, quickly release.

That will reset the video.

Let me know what happens.
