Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Here's a link to this great service

Good luck!

On my Bernina 1130, the shaft that the sewing needle is connected to is frozen in up position & won't go down the thread the bobbin.

Does your 1130 have a basting stitch (I believe it does)? If so, the basting stitch is hung up. A technician can free it up very quickly. However, you can also do it yourself. Sorry, the instructions in writing would be difficult so I'm going to recommend you join Yahoo group "BerninaThirtySomethings" You will need a yahoo email account and then search for the group and request to join. There are documents in the files section that have very elaborate pictures and directions on how to do this yourself. It appears pretty simple once you know what you're looking for.

FWIW, Bernina afficionados recommend running the basting stitch once a month to keep it working (ha, I never do it either and did end up having a technician free it for me). Now that I have the instructions, I'll try it myself the next time it happens.

I took my truck in to get the driverside fuse box replaced. i got home and now the dashboard, headlights and brake lights wont turn off. mecanic said he disconnected the factory alarm. does that have some...

If you paid a technician to do a repair for you and you now have a problem that did not exist before then I suggest you take it back to that technician. In all of my years in the trade I rarely believed the phrase "It didn't do that before", but I never refused to double check my work. A good technician will offer to double-check his work for two reasons; one, if he did cause the problem, and owned-up to it then he gains respect from his customers; and two, if he did not cause the problem then he now has the opportunity to repair something else, and maybe make some money.

Starter relay on 2001 Town Car . Replaced ball joints, now it won;t start

I think the ball joins being replaced and the vehicle not starting are coincidental. It may need to be looked at by a technician.

I have been in the business of audio and video repair for 35 years. Are you looking for any diagnostic technicians? Bart Gravino [email protected]

We are always looking for support technicians on this site. If you think you could become an expert all you have to do is sign up and answer a minimum of 10 free questions a month, then you will become eligable for paid or what we call Premium questions. If you live in the US you can also apply to become a phone support technician.
Phone support is just in the stages of being tested and is expected to be launched next month (hopefully).

If you have other areas of expertise you can add them via your FixYa profile page.

Kind regards and we hope that you decide to join our ever growing community.

I just had FSP 8201799 swithch installed on my

Well, it will run without it but the part comes with it and I always install it. It just snaps on. Thing is, you paid good money for a job and I'm sure you paid him in full. The technician did'nt do a good job or a full or complete job. The technician half-a_ _ed the job and if he were one of my tech's, he would go back and finnish the job. Also when he furnished, he would park my service van and be looking for a job. Sorry,I just can't stand someone not doing what they are or were paid to do.

Yes i have an ONKYO TX-SV70PRO that i think just blew the amp.i need to know if it's fixable{i mean parts available} and a guess as to what the cost might be.

Yes it is fixable, the parts are available. The cost can vary, depending on the rates of the shop you take it to and the actual amount of damage that it has.

On average, a blown channel in a receiver will cost anywhere between $120 and $200, most of which are around the middle of that amount. I would expect to pay about $150. This is a very good receiver and is well worth the repair cost in most cases. Almost all service centers will give you an estimate before you commit to paying for a repair. If it is a free estimate, it is usually just a free guess. A paid estimate is always more accurate and will normally save you money in the long run. The reason for that is, if a shop owner gives a free estimate he is not going to have one of his technicians look at it and troubleshoot it. If you refuse the estimate he still must pay his technician if the technician has looked at it. A paid estimate will ensure the lowest cost because it will be more accurate. Free estimates are almost always a higher estimate to make sure they can cover the cost no matter what is wrong. Even if they find something small, they will usually charge you the full estimate that you have approved already. With a paid estimate they do not want to loose the job after committing the technicians time to find out what is wrong. Figuring out what is wrong is more than half the battle. Sometimes a technician must actually fix the problem completely just to be sure there is nothing else wrong and that the estimate will be good. Nobody likes to get an estimate and approve it, then a day or two later get a new estimate because they found something else wrong that they could not detect until the other part of the problem was fixed. It happens all the time, I have been a technician for over 18 years and have seen just about everything. The bottom line is, a paid estimate is better than a free estimate. Plus, when you pay for an estimate the shop will apply that payment towards the total repair cost, so in the end it is a free estimate if you get the unit fixed.
