My problem is related but just the opposite:.... When switched on, display always opens and stays in DEMO with changing displays. How can I revert back to factory setting?
also, the switch on display does not show after I reset it.

I have exactly the same problem i thought the cd is like that because i brought it at a sale price. Every time i go in the car i have to set the settings (base.tre balance e.g) soon i turn the ignition off all the settings are lost even if it is for a split second i was thinking off returning it as is a real hassle doing this every time you turn the ignition on. The instruction that come with the cd are know help either, can somebody tell me how i can fix this problem.

I had this very same problem and just fixed it.
Turn on radio, Push the SRC button until the ILL comes on.
While that is flashing push either I/ K or stations up / down buttons
you will then see DE O will cancel the demo mode.
You can then go back and select the color you prefer.
Press and hold SRC button until ILL appears. While holding SRC
button down select ILL 1 for BLUE ILL 2 for RED. Display will flash twice
when set.

These directions (Turning Demo Off) are printed on the Table on Contense page
lower right corner.
Selecting color is under OTHER FUNCTIONS,

Good luck, be patient. I did it and I have big fingers.

Make sure you have hooked up your memory power wire to a source of 12 volts that does not go away when the ignition switch is turned off. I suspect that is your problem. Your main power wire will of course need to go cold when the ignition switch is turned off.

How do I get unit out of demo mode...it is stuck and will not turn off demo mode

Here you go

Turn on or turn off the display demo mode.
The console features a display demo mode,
designed to be used if the exercise bike is displayed in a store. If the demo mode is turned on,
the console will not turn off and the display will not
be reset when you finish exercising.
You can turn on or turn off the display demo mode.
From the settings menu, select Demo Mode. The
currently selected demo mode option will be
highlighted.
To turn on the demo mode, select On. To turn off
the demo mode, select Off.

Your manual is here.

How to set the color on my faceplate. It contnues to change color

You're stuck in DEMO mode. When you see stereo's on display at a store it is set to a DEMO mode that cycles through colors, functions, etc so that potential customers can see the different aspects of the unit. To get it to stop changing colors you'll have to go into the menu and turn DEMO OFF.

I cannot get the functions on the remote to operate.ie pbass dsp/eq etc?

The P.BASS function is only available with 2 channel LPCM sources such as mp3,Divx,cd
and wma. Press P.BASS button and "POWER BASS ON" will be displayed on the screen.
The P.bass does not work with DSP/EQ or DOLBY PRO LOGIC ll modes.
If you press P.BASS in the DSP/EQ mode, the DSP/EQ mode is automatically shut off and the P. BASS function comes on.
The DSP/EQ function is only available in STEREO mode.
Press the PL ii mode button to show STEREO on the display.
This feature works with CDs, MP3-CDs, 2 channel DVD-Audio, DivX and Dolby Digital discs.
When playing a DVD disc encoded with two or more channels, multi-channel mode will be selected automatically and DSP/EQ function does not work.

How to turn demo off kdc-mp3035

1. Be sure the unit is in the stand-by mode (ie: turned off)
2. Push the control knob towards FM or AM. Select the DEMO display
3. To set the DEMO mode, do this:
Press the control knob for at least 2 seconds. The demonstration mode alternates between DEMO ON and DEMO OFF.

Although it doesn't say, i would imagine you need to press the MENU button to exit this screen.

This information came from the instruction manual that I was able to download from the internet. Shoot me an e-mail and I'll forward it off to you.
