Question about Edirol UA20 USB Audio/MIDI Interface 24/44.1kHz Sound Card

1 Answer

Midi sound prob

Trying to using adobe audtion 0.1 with midi interface, usb audio capture UA-25 24bit,96 khz, but can only get mic working and not my midi keyboard (yamaha PSR-280) .

The midi interface did come with SONAR LE music program which i got my keyboard working through due to following intructions and i tried to apply the same intructions to adobe but nothing.I know you have to change certain settings, so my p.c and music program recognises the interface, but maybe ive either missed something or my interface is too modern for adobe audtion 0.1. Would really be greatful if you could help.

Cheers, J

Re: midi sound prob

Ok..try this open control panel->click on sounds and audio on advanced button->If your midi volume control is shown..make sure it is not muted and the midi volume is high..If it is not shown..then click on options->properties ->tick the midi box and close the window..then adjust the MIDI volume..I hope this helps

Do not get MIDI signal via EDIROL UA25

Midi is data only, there is no actual sound to the midi tracks themselves. They need to be assigned to either a software synth or an external synth to actually make the sounds you want to hear.

For instance if you load a demo of a midi sequance you will need to add a software synth such as the TTS-1 or Roland sound canvas which are general midi compatable and will play the instruments sounds assigned to the demo's midi channels. Use the Synth Rack feature in Sonar to open one of them. Then you will need to assign the output of each of the midi tracks to that particular synth and you will get sound. Make sure to assing the synth's audio track to you UA-25 as its audio output.

I would suggest reading in the manual and following the tutorials included in the manual to get yourself familier with how this is all done. spacer.gif

Sonar LE: no playback b/c "NO MIDI OUTPUT" selected

You have to go in to the Sonar configuration and select what the default MIDI and WAV input and output devices are. That is usually handled by the ASIO driver. In your case you would select the USB mic for input, and for output you need to select your sound card. For midi you need to configure the midi controllers and the software synth or soft instrument you are using.
If you need any more detailed help I need to know what version of Sonar LE it is and what sound card. I am guessing it detected the mic and just needs the output device configured as I mentioned.

No MIDI Interface on Laptop

I would expect that to work fine. I have used several USB to Midi adapters with good results.

Edirol UA-25 not working on Mac OS X

I had the same problem. When I installed the Edirol software it prompted to 'reboot' and when it restarted all the lights on the Edirol came on.
Why don't you try it like that.
Hook up the Edirol Install the software Reboot
Best of luck Victoria

No sound out from input

It's probably your computer, more specifically the type of application you're running it on/in. Also, when you install or fiddle with the settings, you have to be careful because it can be so confusing fixinfg them.

Mic problems: playback works great through interface, microphone isn't being detected

Check in contraol Panel under sounds and audio devices that you are using the Edirol and not an on board sound. It sounds like although the cards installed its not selected as the audio device to record from. You will also have to tel Adobce audition to select the Edirol as you audio card of choice as it to can be changed to select input from other sound devices.

Problem with stability

Celeron CPU's will struggle with making music and limit what you can do with audio. Celerons are ok to play music but nor really for making music. Firewire is a better option for making music as it's really fast unlike USB. An option would be to get a faster CPU and try the soundcard again. But i would not use USB audio and would use an Audiophile 2496 soundcard as they are really cheap. Also midi is data and not audio, midi just works virtual instruments and is able to control keyboards through midi out. But first try a better CPU as a celeron isant that good for makign music. I know becouse i've been there done that and go really upset with the same problems your having at the moment. I played the midi files on cuabse and recorded it onto an audio chanel.
