Sudden PC slow down

Hi. Long story short: my PC started to drastically slow down after I soft-reseted it after it hanged while watching some anime. While I have encountered this problem twice in the past, the only solution I've resorted to is to reformatting my computer. I'm not sure if its the processor or the RAM, but it is highly unlikely to be a virus (I scanned my PC on the same day, probably an hour before this happening, and I scanned it afterwards, no virus attempts).

Details on the "drastically slow down" part: the loading screen with the "Windows XP" logo takes as long as seven minutes, start-up itself takes another five to seven minutes. Games and applications take as thrice as long to load, and the lag is bad as well (1 Gig RAM). While I use the Norton Optimization feature frequently (even before this happening), it did very little to help.

Hope anyone can help!

Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 will not turn on. Is there a reset button?

If the device is frozen or unresponsive, try pressing and holding the Power button for about 10 seconds. This should force the Galaxy Tab 10.1 to restart normally. Also you can access soft and hard reset options from the Recovery Screen before you boot into Android. Just hold down the Volume Down button while turning the Galaxy Tab on. Hold it down until you see the menu. Select "Wipe data/factory reset" and then "Yes - delete all user data"

First, your pc5300 memory runs default at 6300Mhz, not 333. Perhaps your motherboard Front Side Bus line is 333 in which case the memory will drop to that speed, but if the FSB and memory match speed, then it would run at 6300. Since you have an older unit, I would suppose you are running only 333, and that is average speed for that config. In addition, you are only running 1 gig RAM, which is woefully inadequate for Windows 7, so everything you do is going to be slow.

Upgrading my PC

You will want to bump the RAM up to at least 512mb. This will drastically increase the speed of the machine. Also, download CCleaner from, this is a cleaning program that will get rid of excess junk the slows the computer. Everything else is good.

Problem with Video

Have you been able to watch videos on YouTube prior to this without any hassle?
There are a couple of diagnosis to this situation:-
1. you are downloading or have other programs using your internet bandwith which is causing the buffer to slow right down.
2. your internet speed has dropped due to shaping or even a reduce in plan rate.

When watching a video press pause and let the movie buffer then you will be able to watch the video with out the frame jumps.

Processor overheating

Hi have you cleaned the heatsink? Also replace the paste on the CPU, also you could try installing an extra fan on the case to increase air flow. Also check that your RAM is seated properly and any other chip and card on your board is firmly plugged in. If all this fails replace your CPU. Regards mistyman

Pc is not starting up

I'm sorry to tell you but your cpu has probably fried. Your pc hanging a lot probably meant something was overheating and the fact that you say your cpu is not hot when you have the cooling fan off of it means it is probably the cpu. When you first turn your system on without a cpu cooling fan, the cpu should be slightly warm, although I do not recommended running a cpu at all without a cooling fan or even touching it when it has power.
