I have a Frigidaire front load washer FWTR647GHSO made by electrolux. They also made a similar model for Kenmore. I had it for 8 years and when it did the final spin, the noise was so loud it could be hear 2 floors away. It turns out the inner bearing failed due to water seeping pass the seal. I replaced the seal and bearing and it is nice and quiet. But my main question has to do with the alumimum spider that hold the stainless steel drum. I have seen so many complaints about this washer on the web about the corrosion/failure of the washer because the spider arms break because of the corosion. Since electrolux/frigidaire will not sell the spider separately, you must buy the spider and drum as one unit for $200+. It is not cost effective repair for most people. My question is to those of you who repair front load washers. Do you know what brand/model of front load washer that uses corosion resistant material for their spiders? Either they use a stronger metal than aluminum or address the corosion problem. Attaching two dissimlar metals is a ticking time bomb since the weaker metal will always corrode in these conditions. I can't find any information on what other manufacturers use for their spider assemblies. I figure the people who service them would be the next best source of info. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
