Motherboard Power Problem

Hello Alienware,

Could be a few things.... such as the micro-fuses that have gone on the MB....

But what I dont understand is this:...."Then I disconnect the 4-pin cable that goes from the Power Supply to the motherboard near the CPU and the pc turns on fine"

You have just disconnected the cable from the PSU to the CANT turn on! LOL.

Do you mean that the lights turn on?
Or you hear the HD spin up (if you left it connected to the MB that is)?

Please advise so I can help you more.

Suddenly stopped working ,won't restart my PC?

First of all disconnect all peropheral connected to your motherboard. Take out Your RAM and clean it with soft clothe. Reinsert ram and restart your PC. If you can get display at this point then shut down your PC connect all peripheral back and restart your PC.

If not you will need to replace your ram.

When I power on my PC it shuts down during the POST. I have tried removing the hard disk, changing RAM and other add on boards but to no avail. Regards P. Keswa

I would disconnect everything. To the motherboard I would connect the power supply , one stick of ram , video card if there is not video intergrated on the motherboard already. Leave the cpu fan plugged in of course. Leave the power on button connected, disconnected all usb, audio, everything. Remember what you disconnected and where so you can reconnect later. After all this , see if you can get BIOS. If that didn't work I would switch the stick of ram out try again.

No disply of my motherboard plzz help mee.

Good day sir/maam, hi, if your motherboard wont turn on, you need to make sure that these 5 things are in good order. (By the way, disconnect everything except these listed 5.)
  1. (PC is on) Your power supply, make sure that the exhaust fan is spinning as you turn it on.
  2. (PC is off) Your memory module, (ddr1 or ddr2) clean the contacts using an eraser(pencil) the gold plate contacts and a clean brush your motherboard memory slot.
  3. connect the casing's pc speaker on the motherboard.
  4. connect a video card, make sure its good. If you are using the motherboard's VGA, dont connect a video card. Temporarily reset the CMOS, use or locate cmos battery jumper setting. usually its 1&2 set the jumper to 2&3, then back to 1&2. connect a good monitor.
  5. Connect a keyboard.
Now power on your PC, check your Keyboard, you should see two sets of lights: first set (NUM LOCK + CAPS LOCK + SCROLL LOCK) then a few seconds the second set (NUM LOCK only). at this point you should hear a beep from the PC speaker.

If not, you may hear 1 long and 3 short beeps. bad video card. OR continous beeps, bad motherboard.

If you did not hear anything, do it all over again several times.

Still not working? replace your motherboard, its bad.

hope this helps.

Help me please

You should get the motherboard model. There are a lot of motherboards carrying the same chipset so it is hard to determine the pin configuration. A chipset is the main chip used by the motherboard. Other motherboards could use is as well.
