Check for corrosion where the bulb sits in. Is there a fuse required. Make sure you handle the buld with cotton gloves (oil from hands not good) Let me know if that works.

Black dots projected on my 3m scp716 projector

Actually, this is a known issue with this specific model as 3M has acknowledged. We bought 4 of these and 3 have had to be replaced in 3 years because of this exact issue. It requires the mainboard to be replaced and it is almost as expensive to do this as to buy a new unit. 3M has been know help to us on this even through we bought the entire setup (Projector, Arm, Smartboard) and spent over $15000.

After bulb burns out during church service and fan is running when power is turned off and bulb is replaced. Projector will not power back up.

Hi, I would suggest that you give it more time to cool down in the future, that is why bulb burned.
There could be more heat damage to projector. Check for reset botton and push carefully. listen for click. Look at main switch with more detail (worn out) Bring to be repaired. Good luck.

Go to the menu settings & change the display logo back to factory or press reset to factory original settings. The other church simply put in their logo.

Church 3m s40 doesnt work. It powers up, the fan runs, then a red light comes on the "lamp" and "power" leds. I bought a new bulb for it and it has not improved the problem. HELP!

It's likely the lamp ballast has failed. The ballast powers on the lamp. You can also reseat the lamp & make sure the lamp cover is replaced evenly or the safety shutoff switch under the lamp door may not be depressing which will cause a no start.

I changed the bulb in the overhead but the light does not go on. The fan does. What next

open casing - turn power on and check whether bulb at least flickers - if not perhaps you have touched the bulb itself and static has wrecked it

Hi, the M3 6400 doesn't have a lamp; it is an overhead projector (dynamic) display which needs an external light source. When you start it en put a ordinary lamp behind it and after connected it to a 'source' ( you will see images appear.

NEC Overhead Projector

Hi Forrest

This sounds like a damaged Mainboard.

First check if your Projector is still under warranty as this is a very expensive part to have replaced.

Also check if it has any effect whatsoever using another PC Cable.

Hope this is of help.

3M Multimedia Projector

Hi Sue, On your first concern, a possible reason for the 'Sync is out of range' is because your laptop's resolution is just too high for the projector to handle. You may have to manually lower down your screen resolution (right click on a clear area of your desktop, click on properties, settings tab, move bar of screen resolution towards the left). Try different settings that will give you best performance without the projector rejecting the input signal. Am not sure about your second concern though, offhand your description sounds like video noise. You may have to check that your connectors are firmly plugged in. A longshot is to remove any possible source of interference like wireless phones including your mobile, WiFi AP and the likes. Perhaps you give the first suggestion a try and see if the purple dots disappear when you have the projector running ok. Further you may have to reset your projector if it's got one. Normally it's a small button clearly marked RESET somewhere at the rear of the unit. Hope this works out for you. Pls comment/post back should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
