CHECK TO SEE IF BOTH COOLING FANS RUNNING ARE RUNNING WHEN ENGINE RUNNING START OVERHEATING IF COOLING FANS NOT WORKING CHECK COOLING FANS LARGE FUSES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OR YOU COULD FAULTY COOLING FANS THERMO SWITCH BOTTOM LEFT SIDE OR RADIATOR.IF COOLING FANS IS WORKING WHILE ENGINE RUNNING.RADIATOR CORES AND HEATER CORE COULD BE CLOGGED.COOLANT SYSTEM NEED FLUSHING. THE THERMOSTAT PARTIALLY CLOSED CAUSE ENGINE OVER HEAT.CHECK WATERPUMP WEEP HOLE IF LEAKING WATER PUMP NEED REPLACING.

Engine is running hot

Check coolant reservoir level, check cooling fan if working, check if no leaks on the water pump...If engine newly installed, chances are drive belts are not installed properly.

Is leaking coolant, waterpump was replaced last year

Hi:
Coolant leaks can be tough to figure out where they are leaking, because it is tough to check around on a warm, running engine! I hope it isn't your recently changed water pump, but you can't rule that out. To help narrow things down, you can put papers down on your garage floor, and get a better idea as to what area under the hood it is leaking from, such as directly under the radiator, left side, right side, etc. Using a safe cooling system stop leak product is an option too. Bahrs leak is put in the radiator of every brand new car, and is a safe bet to aid in stoping a small leak. Either way, you need to narrow your search area if you want to find the problem, so work that first!

Car over heating

1)check coolant level if low ,check for leaks, examine all hoses for cracks and wear also chek thermostat housing for leaks,if no leaks. 2)when engine is hot use your hand to check temp. of upper hose if hose is cool replace the therostat. also make sure the cooling fan runs when engine gets warm. otherwise bad water pump drive belt or belt not adjusted correctly, ignition timing incorrect, radiator core blocked(flush&fill) of radiator grill dirty, radiator cap not maintaining proper preassure(have it pressure check at a shop) good luck
