how do i format a memory card, green picture, freezes, blinks, no image

When I take a picture, the camera freezes for about 1 minute or more. It won't turn off. The light blinks green & orange. It doesn't store the image.

Just played with it for a bit and I found out if I take out my memory card, the camera is fine and I can take pictures normal they are just put onto the internal memory. This is so odd!

Perform a "format" (from the "set-up" menu) on the memory card. This will remove any bad, or corrupt data that may be on the card. This will remove any images that are on it also, so make sure there are not images on it you wish to retain.

i dont have a solution but when i tried the first solutin, it had a warning saying "protected card". By the way, i do have this camera.
please help me!
