Question about E-Machines 6809 Notebook

Monitor problem ggOk my monitor was working fine except for the fact that the color seemms lighter than usual (im using an acer lcd monitor btw) so i pressed the menu button on the monitor and went to reset thinking it would put the monitor settings back to defualt after the monitor did whatever it does when yuo click reset.. the monitor nows has transparent thick lines rolling for the bottom of the monitor to the top.. is there anyway to fix that or have ai just killed my monitor? (hard to believe using the monitors reset option would kill it lol). My temp fis was to open the monitor menu again and set the brightness as high as it can go which made the lines "disappear" (i.e theyre probably still there but the screen is so bright you dont notice them) but now sites have a wierd metallic grey look to them (better than the lines though). However after a day of those settings now i cant use my pc for more than 30 secs without the screen fading to complete white making it unable to see/show anything. The only way to fix that problem was to put the brightness down to a normal setting but now the lines are there... any idea onm how to fix this or would i have to get a new monitor? My screen is fading startng from the top right corner downward. On the right side it is a brighter color and there are little horizontal lines so that i can't read the words on that side of the monitor very well. Is there any way to fix this or do i need a new monitor.

It sounds to me like your monitor is going......if the computer itself is functioning fine, and you have even reset the monitor to the default, and still having problems, I would say it's time for a new monitor. You can find reasonable ones on ebay. I got two 19" monitors off of there and I am thrilled with them. Just be sure to check the ratings of the seller before bidding or buying.
Good luck.

My al1916w monitor has a vertical blue stripe on the left side. It works fine except that the striped area discolors video. How do I fix that?

Unfortunately, a stripe on an LCD monitor indicates a physical failure of the LCD panel itself. The only solution is to replace the panel with a new one.

Montor has colored lines on left side

Are we talking thin vertical lines that run all the way from the top of the screen to the bottom? If so, this usually indicates a failure of the chip controlling that line of pixels.Unfortunately, there is no easy repair for this and the screen will need to be replaced.

Any Drivers for ACER AL1912

With very few exceptions, LCD monitors do not require a driver. Almost always, and display setting issue is an issue with the Display adapter (Video Card) driver. The plug and Play monitor driver that is native to Windows should work just fine.

you are in a bad spot, the plug is sealed when molded. maybe ebay has a defective monitor and you could take the cable off it.

Monitors will usually snap apart with a butter knife.

Connecting an external monitor to acer 5720

I have had this before with my Dell Latitude C540/640. I don't know the ACER 5720 but here's a couple possible fixes for you.

1. Press the function key ( "fn" key, generally a blue key or blue lettering and usually in the bottom left corner of your keyboard) and press F8 (may be a different key on your laptop, again, not familure with the acer. The key usually has either CRT/LCD printed on it, or two monitors on it, one its just an outline of a monitor and the other is filled in. This will run you laptop through the three monitor options it has. (LCD - LCD & External - Just External)

2. Try closing and opening the lid of your laptop. Sounds a bit strange but it works sometimes for me. My guess is when you close you screen it would "dim/turn off" the LCD and re-opening it convinces it to turn the screen back on.

Hope this helps!

Al 1916 problem

really? here's the thing..try to check the display settings the menu button of your monitor then try adjust the contrast, brightness and colors as well to your desired level..if your'e using LCD monitors, these are very sensitive and can be easily damaged if don't handle it very well..don't press the auto button always because it will automatically adjust the settings every now and then..

Monitor problem

Sounds like you have a coincidental hardware failure. The reset button usually sets the monitor to factory default which is good in most uses. A rolling pattern on the screen is occasionally due to electronic interferrence such as a mobile phone in the vacinity. As you say your screen is fading completely suggests a hardware failure and nothing to do with your pressing the reset. If your monitor is less than 3 years old (standard screen warranty) I would contact the manufacturer and they may send you a new one.
