Question about Apple iPod shuffle Second Gen. Silver (1 GB) MP3 Player (MA564LL/A)

Downloading to iPod Shuffle 2G

Hi:
I just got my iPod a few days ago and feel like a real dummy. My iTunes is updated as well as Safari. I downloaded some podcasts from iTunes into the iTunes window on the right. Now I have no idea how to get them to my iPod!! I plugged it in and double clicked the podcast. All that did was cause it to play on my computer. I read in the manual that I have to select podcast in the source window which I did and then click the contents tab. I can't find a contents tab.
Also, in another place it says (to manually load it) in iTunes, select your library or a playlist in the Source pane (how do you get it into the source pane on the left?). Drag the song or other item to the iPod shuffle in the Source pane.
You can also drag entire playlists to load them onto iPod shuffle.

I know it will be simple once I understand the directions. I think it's fully charged. I charged it for a long time. Sometimes I get a green light and sometimes it's orange. From what I've read, I can pretty much ignore the lights as they are not always right.

Thank you in advance.

Clicking Autofill does not work. That's the problem.

Regarding changing the file or folder name, I don't know what you mean exactly.

    Thanks.

Most of my itune shows are frozen only a few play fine.I deleted quicktime and itunes then reinstalled and nothing changed!!Please help

It could be that you have too many programs running, even ifyou don't know they're running.
If you're goingto update your iPod,close all other programs except your iTunes, and then right click on the toolbar at thebottom of your desktop and click task manager. Go to the processes tab and thenclick the user name tab at the top of the list. Anything that says owner exceptexplorer, task manger, and iTunes can be closed. That might help it to work alittle faster and not freeze for so long. Also, make sure you have the most upto date version of iTunes.

Hi,

Unless you downloaded them as podcasts from the Music Store, there isn't a way in iTunes of differentiating podcasts from other audio. it's something they're looking at doing though I think.

Tip

The iTunes software update for iPod Touch

ITunes is a media management program launched by Apple built to help manage content for all Apple iPod, personal media players, including iPod touch. You can use iTunes to load and delete songs, apps, podcasts and a variety of content on your device and back up your iPod touch. Before installing the software update on your iPod touch, you should update your iTunes software. Typically, iTunes prompts you to update the program when there are updates available, you can also manually check for updates in iTunes.

1. Launch iTunes.

2. Click "Help" from the toolbar menu at the top of the program window and click "Check for Updates". The program will prompt you with a new update, if available.

3. Click the "Download iTunes". Apple Launches Software Updater.

4. Click the box to the left of the "iTunes" and click "Install an item" button.

5. Click "OK" to confirm the terms of use agreement.

6. Apple Software Updater will automatically download and install the update from iTunes. The updater closes iTunes prompts you to restart your computer to complete the upgrade.
IPod Nano, white, 4gb, I want to delete existing podcasts from the library in my iPod. Podcasts show up on the iPod but not on my PC. The podcast category shows up on the PC but the PC podcast library...

I've had a similar problem in the past. The files on your iPod don't show up on your PC because your daughter put them there via another computer (possibly a Mac), and/or software other than iTunes. Your PC just can't detect them.

I used free software called Floola (http://www.floola.com/home/download_win/), to manually go into the iPod directory and deleted the unwanted files. It's very easy to do. Hope this helps.

Hi. i have an ipod mini which is synced to my windows xp system but i'd like to download the music to my mac laptop - OS10. can someone please let me know how to do this ? thanks

Hi,

Syncing the music to the mac OS10 is much easy please follow the steps below:

Syncing music and podcasts automatically Connect iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
Select iPod in the Devices section on the left side of the iTunes window

e12f969.jpg

In the main iTunes browser window, select the Music tab.
Select the option to Sync Music.

9ef84ad.png

You have the option to sync all songs and playlists or selected playlists. Your iPod will need to have enough free space to sync the content that you have selected from your library. Tip: You can use the capacity bar at the bottom of the iPod settings window to determine how much free space is available. The size of a playlist can be determined by selecting it and looking at the bottom of the iTunes window.

f35bb9f.jpg
Podcasts can also be automatically synced to iPod. Select the Podcasts tab and choose to sync all podcasts or selected ones. You can also determine which episodes are synced based on if they are recent, new, or unplayed

ad82500.png

Click Apply and iTunes will begin syncing the audio content you've selected to your iPod. The iTunes LCD will display the sync progress and notify you when the iPod sync is complete

eea7a8d.jpg
  1. To disconnect your iPod, select it under Devices and click the eject icon next to it.
Syncing music manually If you prefer not to automatically sync music content to your iPod, you can set up manual syncing.

Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
Select iPod in the Devices section on the left side of the iTunes window

75b22af.jpg
In the main iTunes browser window, select the Summary tab.
Select the option to "Manually manage music and videos" or "Manually manage music." This will deselect the automatic sync settings for the Music, Movies, and TV Shows tabs. Automatic syncing for Podcasts, Photos, Contacts, and Games can be individually disabled by selecting those options in each of those tabs. Note: When manually managing iPod, disk use is enabled and iPod must always be manually ejected in iTunes before disconnecting it from your computer
Click Apply.

To manually add music, audiobooks, movies or TV shows to your iPod, choose one of these categories under Library on the top-left of the iTunes window.

Select and drag items you want (to choose multiple items, Command-click items on a Mac or Control-click items in Windows), then drag them onto your iPod icon under Devices.

To add a playlist, select it from the left side of the iTunes window and drag it onto your iPod in the same way.

Loading itunes

Hi there,
Simple fix:
  • I'm sure you've already done this part but just for safeties sake go to the Apple site and download the very latest iTunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
  • Next press and hold the standby button. It will ask slide to turn off, do this.
  • Now press and hold both the Power and Home buttons together for about 10 seconds until the Apple symbol appears.
  • Now connect it to your PC.
  • If iTunes doesn't startup automatically or isn't already open then open it up.
  • Select the touch in the sidebar of iTunes then click on the Summary tab at the top of the main page.
  • Click “Check for Update.” iTunes tells you if there’s a newer version of the iPod touch software available.
  • Click Update to install the latest version of the software. Or click Restore to restore. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the restore process.
For more info refer to pages 97, 104-5 & 111 of the user guide (also available from http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipodtouch) and the knowledge base article here

Hi,

You can try to reset :

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1382?viewlocale=en_US

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320?viewlocale=en_US

If you still have the problem you can try restore :

Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.

How to restore your iPod:
For Windows:

1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.

2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.

3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes. If the iPod's display doesn't show "Connected" or "Do not disconnect" you may need to put the iPod into disk mode to proceed.

4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software.

The 4 possible restore options are:

Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.

Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.

Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.

Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.

6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started.

When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.

7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage.

Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.

8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

For Mac:

Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.

Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.

6. A message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator's name and password.

7. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.

8. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage.

Or

Try to reinstall

To update and reinstall your iPod software, first download the latest version of iTunes.

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.

Select your iPod in the source list and click "Check for Update" under the Summary tab. iTunes will check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you.

Audiobooks has disappeared from menu

The easiest solution would be to plug in your ipod and click on your ipod in your itunes library. By doing so you should be on your contents tab. Click on the settings tab and then click on restore. This should add restore all your defaults on your ipod. Before you do all this; make sure you back up your podcast if you don't currently have them in your itunes library. If this was helpful to you in anyway please leave a comment and a good rate. Thank you!

Are you downloading podcast videos or audio files?

Also, do you have your iPod to sync manually or automatically? Change it to manually if it is auto, then you can put the podcasts from your library onto your podcast folder on the ipod in iTunes.
