Question about Plustek OpticFilm 7200i Film Scanner

Open Question

Garbled images I'm having serious issues scanning with my 7200i...and it's just 6 days old.  After the first time I used iSRD, when I tried to scan another image, the image came out really garbled in the prescan...there are small fluo color lines everywhere over the image...and when I do the real scan, there is nothing but black with vertical red blue and green lines...oh and the scanner doesn't even try to warm up its lamp!  This issue is happening with silverfast SE plus (latest version) AND with windows's scanner driver.  I tried to reinstall the plustek drivers AND Silverfast, I deleted the preference file just to be sure I have a fresh install and the issue STILL persists...did I get an almost-DOA scanner here?!

I haven't used my Optic Fil 7200i (plustek) since upgrading to Windows7. Also, I have moved and my software disk didn't make it in the move! Is there a way to get one mailed to me: Bailey...

You can purchase the software disk from this link:

Alternately, you can download the installation software/driver free of cost from the manufacturer's download website by clicking this link

On the page which opens, enter OpticFilm 7200i in the Serach box under "Option 1: Search By Product Name" and click the Search button (See attached image)

Then select OpticFilm 7200i from the results window. Download the driver in .zip format from the list which opens. After the download completes, extract the .zip file to open the driver file.

Here is the direct link to the driver file.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa.

I have 6 identical new PC's running Windows XP SP3 with Kodak i1210 scanners. 4 of them are running fine and scanning fine. The two giving me an issue are scanning fine as well but they are scanning...

Please check if the disk where you are saving has enough space. Defrag the drive for better results. If you are connecting the scanners trough an USB cable, try replacing them. Also check if the file format is same. If you have chosen to scan BMP or TIFF uncompressed or Color, the file size may be too big. I presume the other two PCs are free of virus.

Hi, I have the same problem. I am running on the same computer with the same software Nikon Scan without problems. Found out that the problem happens mostly when a crop is selected that just eliminates the scanning frame. Without crop mostly OK. However no reason why and no real solution

Do you have any existing drivers for new epson scanners( models), if you have then there are compatibility issues between new drivers and old drivers, are you using a leopard 10.5 operating system or tiger 10.4.**? try uninstalling every epson info from applications folder and from library/image capture and library/preferences. you an use the finder to search for epson scan and drg them all to trash. Try using image capture application as well if it will scan when you run it, then reinstall driver.

One more thing, when you click on epson scan, does it bounce continouosly from the dock? if it is then look for a subfolder and install everything in it.

Keep me posted, thanks!
