Question about Nokia N80 Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Water damage my nokia N80 fell into the sea water for few seconds. at that time it was on and working. i did not know anything about water damage so i did not take out the battery until the next day. after taking out the battery/sim card, i cleaned out the whole phone with dry papertowel and kept it under the fan for next 3 days. 1. i do not see any water sign on my phone, so i put the battery back and turn on the phone, it does not turn on... 2. i thought may be the battery is bad so i took out the battery and connected the phone directly to charger to see if something shows up. but no sign on life on my phone... IS my phone dead ?? if not what are the options.

No i do not have any insurance or warranty left on this phone. I thought this was kind of good news.

Should i try changing the flexi cable on the phone ??
or cleaning the phone with alchohol and see if cleans up the salty grain left on phone(since phone went into sea water). ??
or it is dead no matter what..???

It might be to late, but doesn't hurt to try, keep battery / sim card out, and put the phone in a freezer, if you don't have a freezer place it next to an air vent, wait over night (10 hours at least) And you should see water dripping out, warm it in your hands for about 20 seconds, dry it out with any towel / cloth place the sim card than battery in, if it doesn't turn on contact your phone company from a land-line about your insurance

I guess it was to late, I'm sorry to say, that you have'ft to get a new phone, it has messed up your phone screen, if usally cost more to get it repaired than a new one! if you have water insured which is likely just contact your sellers and they will ship you a new one out and ask for the old one.

Well, I would try everything that comes to mind first before having to buy a phone.

My Sony Camera fell in the sea water, can it still be fix? How?

Salt water damage is very bad for electronic devices, especially if the device was switched on at the time when it was dropped into salt water.
The cost of repair if you can get someone to repair it would most like be very expensive.
I would recommend you purchase a new camers, it most likely be a later and better model.

My nokia 6210 nav fell into water and i dried it off. now the problem is that i cannot see the backlight even though the phone is working fine. the display is therefore dark, and i'm able to see anything...

Hi, sorry about the water problem with your phone, Since you said the phone is already coming on but the display is still dark, What makes the display still dark is because the water it fell into has damaged an IC inside the phone,The IC makes the phone display.

So when you replace the phone IC that got damaged, the phone will display again,.

It was caused by water.
Take care.

Fell in the sea and the phone went dead

you will have to get a new phone.
the sea water inside your phone will corrode and damage everything.
you can try placing the phone in a baggie with uncooked white rice and seal it for about a week, then replace the battery with a new one and see if it works.
thats your only option besides getting a new phone.

Display problem in Nokia N80

It's a problem with the wiring that connects the upper part of the phone to its lower part when you slide it up. The wiring apparently gets damaged easily and you need to have it replaced, the wiring only, not the phone. This has also happened to me and I sent my phone to a certified Nokia Service Center. They replaced the faulty wiring but since my phone was still under warranty, they did not charge me anything. Hope your phone is still under warranty. Good luck.

Nokia N70 doesn't display anything?

You have to open it up to dry it up with a hair dryer , there is still water inside the phone. Do not turn it on until you have dry up all the water other wise you will damage the phone. Good luck

White sreen!!

My friend has the same problem and she has had the phone for a while and its been through a lot ... i dont know if your phone is in good condition but i'd just take it to the phone store and tell them. You'll probably just get a new phone.
