Question about Dell A215 Computer Speakers

1 Answer

Speakers don't work after getting unplugged once! Light doesn't turn on, etc.

I once had to unplug the speakers, and I recently put them back in. They don't work. "Sounds and Audio Devices" tells me that everything is in order...I don't understand (unless, of course, I mis-read something). If a bad jack is the case, I plugged the green cable into the green-colored hole behind the computer.

How do I get the back speakers to work? The speaker test shows that all speakers work but i only hear the front speakers

Try reinstalling speaker drivers, or check the cables to see if they are working. Try turning off the front ones or unplugging them and plugging the back speakers where they were.

My speakers don't want to turn on

Hi ,
Sometimes , new speakers just don't work from the beginning and you need to bring them back to the retail shop under waranty .
Before doing that , check your soundcard by connecting it's output to another sound set , like your hifi or another speakers set . If this doesn't work , you could be just facing a driver issue that can easily be solved by downloading and installing the correct driver from the manufacturer's site .

Sound went out on speakers

Make sure your speakers actually work by unplugging the speaker jack, turn the volume up the high, wet your fingers and touch all the connections at the same time. You should get a ground humm. If you do get the humm then the next step is to go to my computer, right click on it and go to "properties". Depending on your operating system, you have to locate "Device Manager". Once open look for any devices that have a mark on them indicating that they are not functioning (in this case it would be in your sound device). Reinstall the drivers for the sound card if they show as not working, or go to the drivers tab of the sound card properties and see if you can fall back to a previous driver (windows update supplies driver updates that in many cases prove to be the wrong one, don't use Windows update for drivers). If everything looks good for the sound card in the device manager and your speakers are working then you may need to install a sound card. Good luck

I suspect you have not plugged them back into the correct socket. The plug is coloured green and therefore should go back into the green socket. you have probably plugged it back into the blue or pink sockets. Use a torch to check that is in the green one.

Static humming from speakers

I've had the same problem and I think I've solved the problem. I noticed that they were fine when I first turned them on. After a awhile the blue light would flicker and static would start. I figured there might be some connection so I unplugged my speakers, took off the thin rubber from bottom and removed the 3 small screws. I carefully pulled the circuit board down, spotted the led light and snipped it off. I put everything back together, double stick taped the rubber piece back on, plugged it back in and have been listening static free for hours. Yippee, no more room full of screaming babies (that's what static sounds like to me)! By the way, I'm no expert. I just have a very strong aversion to static.
Good luck,

Speakers have low sound

Look into your computer audio setup, usually a icon in the lower right. they have controls for volume, some have different areas such as oper sounds, outdorrs, etc. Maybe these are turned down or muted...Also plug a head set into the CD or DVD rom port in the front if yu have and see if the volume is good. Possible bad audio card. Also try different speakers. Small speakers sell for $20.00 or less.
