Water does not dispense from the door but there is water to the filter fitting

I recently changed the water filter in the frig (about 2 weeks ago) and everything worked normal after the filter change. I flushed several quarts of water through the system and the system seemed OK. Ice making and dispensing is OK. I checked the plastic cooling reservoir in the bottom of the frig and appears to be empty. I removed the filter and adapter and depressed the valve in the filter fitting with my finger while activating the door dispenser switch and water flowed out of the filter fitting indicating the solenoid valve was OK. I re-installed the adapter and filter into the fitting and activated the door dispenser switch - there was a momentary flow of water which stopped when the filter pressured up. I removed the filter again and there was a lot of pressure behind it which indicates to me that the filter discharge line is blocked somewhere. I don't know if there is a solenoid activated valve on the discharge end of the line - if so that may be malfunctioning. The only other thing that I can imagine is a frozen water line in the door. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem. My GE fridge users the smartwater filters without an adapter. I found that the filter was not fully inserted into the socket so the switch was nwt being fully depressed.

My water dispenser does not give me water

1st make sure you got water to the frig.
defrost the frig by turning it off for 2 days with the doors open. Sometime the water freezes inside the door and the water dispenser doesnt work. the turn back on and see if you have water. every 6 months you should change the filter (it could be the problem too)

IWater does not dispense.

Good day,
The hum is normal. That's the water valve in the rear of the machine being activated.
Lots of plumbing to be checked.
Water line starts at the dispensing outlet in the door, and runs thru the door to the bottom of the hinged side.
From there it goes to the filter,
'From there it travels under the machine into the cooling reservoir mounted back of the fresh food section behind the crispers.
From there it travels back out and runs to the water solenoid mounted on the back rear of the machine.
One of these lines or their fittings has failed.
It's a look-see repair.

Also, there is a remote chance the water line running inside the freezer door froze, causing this problem, and would require the machine be shut down (unplugged) and the door be allowed to defrost completely.

Replaced water filter, water stopped working at all after 3 weeks

Remove lower grill and disconnect the water line going through the freezer door hinge. Usually it is a push lock fitting, which requires you to push the ring on the end of the fitting toward the center of the fitting while pulling (not hard) on the plastic tube. Now place a pan under the separated plastic hose and try the water dispenser. If water comes out, your problem is a frozen water line in the freezer door. A warmer freezer temp may help, or you can order and install a WR49X101073 water tube heater. (the heater may take 24 hours to thaw the line, but I have used it successfully several times. Cost about $50) If no water comes out the separated tube when you try to dispense water, reconnect the tube at the hinge by pushing the plastic line back into the fitting. Now, at the back of the refrig., disconnect the water line going from the water valve to the fresh foods compartment. Try to dispense water. No water at valve outlet = bad valve. Water dispensed from valve now = frozen water filter or water line at back bottom of fresh foods compartment. (make sure you disconnect the right tube. If in doubt, disconnect them both, just get them back correctly so your icemaker continues to work) Send me additional comments if needed. Don't rate before you try all the steps.

Ice continues to be made, about a week ago, the part that turns the ice to crush it or dispense it doesn't work, it also takes about 2 minutes when water is activated before it will finally dispense, all...

Open the door and hold the door switch down and try the ice dispenser. Do you hear any thing. Take all the ice out of the bin and try. Anything? Take the bin out and try. Anything? The motor is behind the back cover where the bin sits. See if you get power to it using a voltmeter. If your are, probably bad motor. If not dispenser switch.

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid

You have two points where you can check the dispenser water. At the rear where the water supply comes in is the water inlet valve. If you disconnect the dispenser water line and then see how fast the water comes out when you try the dispenser. If it's slow here there is a valve our water supply problem. If it's normal, disconnect it at the bottom of the freezer door and try again. It it's normal here it may be frozen in the door. If this is the case open the door till it thaws. A blanket over the opening will prevent thawing of all the food.

Water dispenser in my Maytag french door refer has suddenly stopped working. We use it every day and the filter seems to be fine. It almost sounds like it is frozen. Please Help!!!

We have a hd2560 (bot 10/04), french door with inside water dispenser and it had stopped working a year ago, but started working a few months later. I couldn't figure out what happened, but suspected the water line was frozen. I later found out that the water reservoir is located behind the fruit and vegetable bins, so look there to see if the water is frozen.

Two weeks ago, our frig/compressor stopped cooling after making humming/clicking sounds for weeks. Fortunately, Maytag has a 5 yr parts & labor warranty on the compressor, so we were covered. Evidently, there are quite a few faulty compressors out there.

I believe that the compressor had been over-cooling in the past and caused the water lines/tank to freeze. This would also cause frozen produce/fruit. I would immediately contact Maytag/Whirlpool if you suspect a faulty compressor as well.
