Re: my ibm t40

If there is a problem in loading the operating system it may have been caused by some change. If you can work out what stopped it from working then you can try and reverse the change. Alternatively you can try to reinstall the operating system, to do this you insert the system disk that should have come with the computer or the OS if you upgraded it and follow the instructions. You may have to fiddle around with the startup options to get it to run the disk. Most computers access these through pressing F8 somewhere in the startup sequence.

I deleted the users and I cannot get into Windows because is asking me the User in the welcome Windows screen. I have a ThinkPad T40. Thank you!

Wow! Well on that I think your only solution to reload the operating system with your cd that came with the computer. You can't log in with the way it sounds. That will be the simple way. You will not be able to save your stuff that is on the computer.

I have a IBM thinkpad T40, while working on it, the laptop shut down and started to reboot. but only got to a point where it said could not find operating system.after a couple of times tring to reboot it,...

Whilst booting up have tried tapping the F8 key to get into the safe mode menu and either select the last known good configuration option or the safe mode option to load the operating system to then try and determine the cause. Should this suggestion not work a safe option to recovering your data is to buy a USB hard disc drive docking station, whip out your hdd, slot it into the docking station and retrieve your files using another PC. Repairing the operating system using the XP disc on boot up sometimes works but also trashes your personal data if it's on the C drive and it reloads the o/s.

I have an Ibm think pad laptop and I went to turn it on the other day and the ibm screen comes up with press F12 for bios set up on bottom but dosent go pass this screen no cursur and no sound got any...

Use IBM boot disc that was supplied with your computer. If that doesnt work use the operating system disc that came with it. If you have neither of those and the operating system was installed from the factory on a different sector of your hard drive try to start the computer up 3 times in a row and the computer should say safe boot or even boot from diagnostics etc. If you dont see any of that at all possible hard drive failure occured and you will be looking at gettting a new hard drive $50-$150 depending on size ( Do you have the operating disc or not? if you dont then you will need to call IBM to see if they can send you a disc, if thats a no go then you will need to purchase one (

My ibm wont start up??????

The problem is going to be with either the operating system or the hard drive, and you will need an operating system disc in order to solve this problem. After acquiring an operating system disc you can try an operating system repair. If the repair doesn't take, then try to reformat the drive (NTFS) and install a fresh version of the operating system. If you have any problems during or after the format and fresh install, then the hard drive has failed and needs replaced. A hard drive failure is the most common with this type of problem, but occasionally the operating system will glitch and cause it. Either way you will need an operating system disc if you plan on fixing this yourself.
