RCA Opal troubleshooting

When I plug in the opal into the computer it says "profiling requires 4 mb of space" and then immediately shuts down. But when unplugging it and re-plugging it into the same USB port--it now says... USB connected and begins to charge. But my computer still won't recognize the opal--even while it says: USB connected. It also says that the device driver software failed to install. What do I need to do?

Re: RCA Opal troubleshooting

Make sure the Hold Button - it's on the side of the Opal - is off.  When the hold button is on, it makes the Opal think the Flash disk is full, and you get all kinds of wacky reactions.
Hope this helps...

Rca opal 4gb M4304-A has completely stopped functioning

Wow, I didn't realize so many people were having the same problem I was having. First try re-installing the firmware for it. Since your computer won't recognize it you will need to download the software, then you will have 2 boxes pop up. One is the install instructions and the other is the actual program install. You will have to hold down the play button on your player while you plug it into the computer. DO NOT RELEASE THE BUTTON UNTIL THE PROGRAM SAYS "INITIALIZING".

It should work fine once you do this. I spent 3 hours going through RCA's website before I came across this step.

Resettingmy mp3

I had the same EXACT problem as this and I fixed it but in order to fix it you lose all your songs :( Any way heres how)...Go into 'My Computer' and right click on device (my device showed up as a removable disk) select 'format' and follow steps... it took a few seconds. Then when you turn on your Opal it should work but wont have any songs on it.

Opal mp3 1g

Sorry I don't know where the "Profiling requires 4mg of free space" came from. But one thing I do know is that one GB of space should hold up to approx 600-650 songs unless they are WAV files then they take up 30 megabytes per song.

Hope this helps
