Question about RCA P61960 61" Rear Projection Television

Rca p61950 turn on and off by itself??????

Turn on and off by itself , probably about 20 min viewing time then nothing

Sounds like the front panel buttons are locking up the micro,unplug the unit and remove the back cover,just below were you removed the top screws you can look and see the top of the picture tubes,in fron of the middle tube is a small board,unplug the top left cable and this should restore the unit till you get the set serviced,this will not harm the set,the front buttons just wont work

Hi, most of the time with these types of sets the convergence IC's goes bad (2) with some low ohm resistors and or low amp fuses with some cold solder connections....

You are probably viewing an input with nothing connected. Try changing the input settings using the AV or input button.

Turned on tv no picture only sound then i heard a pop and smelled burning tv turned itself off. 5 min tried turning on tv again nothing happened tv does not turn on at this time


Your RCA TV needs serious troubleshooting. Burning smell is from HV transformer or resistors smoking.

Most likely power supply and/or high voltage circuit or convergence circuit. Many times RCA have multiple or secondary faults that occur with HV or convergence failure.

Repair of RCA HV or convergence usually requires exact manufacturer parts and upgrades or repair in power supply. I would not advise trying this repair without manufacturer support for correct part numbers and service bulletins.

I have a 20 inch true flat screen RCA tv is about a year old. After you turn in off, later on it turns itself back on. and sometimes it turns itself off after being on for a short perion.


I have the same problem with the same size 20" RCA tv. Mine is a little over 2years old. After turning itself off and on whenever it felt like it, now it blinks off and on nonstop every few seconds and nothing makes it stop......please help
