Have you lost any underwires in any bras? Would be my first check, as years ago I had a similar sound & it turned out to be part of a broken underwire from my bra, I manage with a bright torch & a pair of tweezers to locate the offending object by slowly turning the drum with my hand & the teasing the metal through one of the drum holes & retrieved it, I wasn't ever going to pluck my eyebrows with the tweezers again but hey, they're cheaper than washing machines!!
I hope this helps, let me know if I can help any further...
There may be an object that has gone through one of the holes of the spin basket, check to see, something like a bra underwire may have gone through and is rubbing on the inside of the tub
hi there it could be a few things, but what i would do is take the back off and look at the spindle if you manually rotate the drum and the spindle is twisting its that! or as simple as it sounds i had the same issue but it was a underwire from a bra that had gone through the holes in the drum and wrapped all the way around the spindle! it was a pain to get out but the dryer up and running perfect now! let me know how u get on
A common broblem with dryers and washers alike is the underwire out of womens bras coming out and getting through one of the holes in the drum wich makes a horrible racket. Open the door and use a flashlight to look inside to see if you can see the underwire in one of the holes. They also get stuck in the front seal where the drum rides around this is another good place to look.
You wouldn't believe how common that is. If you can see part of the underwire, unplug the machine first! Then, try to pull it out through the holes in the rear of the drum with needle nose pliers or vise grips. I can't stress enough the need to unplug the dryer first. On certain brands the heater is right behind the rear panel and depending on certain circumstances there could be 120-240 volts to the heater even though it is not hot and the underwire could either be shorted already or will short when you try to pull it out.
take a pair of tweezers and a flashlight and turn the drum slowly around trying to see it and grab it with the tweezers to pull it out through one of the holes.
Check to see if you have a bra underwire or nail stuck in the spin tub. Look around inside the tub looking for something stuck in one of the holes. Dont use the machine until you find the problem or you cut the tub in half with like a nail or screw and then the machine has to be rebuilt $$$$
You may have other problems, However start here. Let me know if you have other questions
you may not have to take the washer apart, take a good ligtht and look around inside the spin tub, if a part of the underwire is sticking thru, try and pull it out. Do not use the washer until the wire is removed or it actually could cut the tub and then the machine will leak $$$
Let me know the make and model if you need more assistance
Bra underwires are one of the main engines of the appliance repair buisness.
You do need to keep a close eye out for it in the filter but it probably will do no good to call for repair. The repairman most likely will check the filter and tell you to call back if you have any trouble. Until it works it's way down there isn't much you can do without disassembling the washer.(no small feat for some of them) The only real damage that may occur is if it pokes a hole in the drain hose between the tub and pump. This has happened, but rarely. They will usually make their way to the pump and you will hear the noise, at which time you can usually remove it with no trouble.
Be sure to wash bras in a delicates bag on delicate cycle in the future.
Hope this helps.
Thanks/Mike
