Power surge

Yes possibile there's some IC's that are burn inside it and also the power supply can be damage so resetting it will not do anything , if you can take it to a repair center and let them check this unit and fix it.

Good luck........

Wont turn on

Check the On/OFF switch first. Then check the AC cord. If both are OK, open the TV, and check the fuse. There is a glass cartridge type, replaceable fuse on the power regulator section. If found opened, replace it with same type and number.

My tv wont turn on at all

Here are some DIY steps that may help you fixing the problem.

I'm assuming here that your outlet is live.

1. Check the power cord - check the cord it might be opened (no continuity).

2. Check the internal fuse - sometimes the fuse fail because of the power surge, replacing with new one will cure the problem. However if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts on the power supply, you may visit the link for more info. If no reaction and still the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply.

3.If you see that the fuse is intact on the board, don't attempt to touch anything because there some fatal components stored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only.

The next steps should be done by an expert or qualified technician because isolating the problem on the power supply is quite technical.

Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the back panel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Hope it may help you.

Thanks for using fixya.

Lightening stroke and my tv went blank. i open it and found the fuse blown change the fuse but heard a pack sound coming out of the largest capacitor

It simply means it is not only the fuse that needs replacement.
The capacitor is also faulty and needs replacement. Once lightning hits a device, its quite a number of components that will get burnt so replacing the board will do the work.

Also check the tips of the capacitor on the other side to see if the lead on it has not melted off causing the capacitor to be having a bridge.

Take care and good luck

Sony KP-46S25

You have to find the reason why the fuse is blowing. to do that you have to open the up the TV anyway. try another fuse and see if it burns. fuses blow because there is more current going through it than the fuse amperage can hold. it is probably a burnt resistor.

Tv don't come on

Your main power fuse is probably burnt out. Take off the back of your tv and check for the burnt fuse or burnt connections

Tv wont turn on only clicks and then flashes red timer light

Well, I have found out that the number of red light blinks is a "blink code" that indicates the nature of the fault with the TV. Usually these are various failures of internal fuses or circuit boards. There's a fair amount of information on threads at on this, so try searching there. Teh specific codes and manuals are usually it seems under license from Sony and not available for free to the public. Sorry!

Sony KV-20FS12

First, unplug the tv set for 30 seconds, plug back in and try ti turn on.. Second, If you're NOT still under warranty you should at least open the TV and look for a blown fuse near where the power cable enters the set. A lot of times you can buy replacement fuses at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace. Check the fuse. If it is blown, it will be obvious and make sure that the set is unplugged before replacing it. If it blows again, or if it is not blown, your problem is probably in the 'X' volt regulator and you will need professional help with the repairs. You can also check the board where the components are mounted and resoled any that look bad. Brief power outages may cause the TV not to turn on. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet. In your case it could caused by a blown fuse, a leaky diodes or a bad solder joint at the horizontal drive transformer. All can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your TV serviced. good luck!
