Question about Acer Aspire 1642WLMi Notebook
I have a acer aspire 1642 with a crystalBright screen.
In the left hand side of the screen a yellow stripe goes from top to the bottom of the screen. You can still see through but it distorts the colour. Its about 300mm wide.
When you squeese the plastic trim, (at the top) that surounds the screen the affected area goes sky blue. Again, you can see through it and it distorts the colour. However, when you loosen your grip it goes back to the annoying yellow.
Do you have an idea on whats wrong and how I can repair it?
And a good evening to you!
It is possible that you have a bad LCD assembly, or possibly the LCD cable connector is loose. The only way to find out is to remove the LCD assembly from the top cover so that you can access the connector. It is located behind the LCD screen.
If you want a copy of a service manual for the disassembly process, let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

Hi, I too have the exact same problem with an Acer Aspire 1642 ... An 8cm vertical band of distortion on the right side of the screen, which goes away when you touch/squeeze the plastic rim at the top right corner. Unfortunately it is becoming more and more persistent lately.
Could someone email me Chapter 3 at firstname.lastname@example.org. And also could someone report back on whether they where actually able to fix this problem. Don't wanna start disassembling anything without knowing I have a fighting chance of making it work.
