It is likely that the BIOs update left the sound chip setting switched off. Simply go into the BIOs and find the section for Onbpard DEvices and re-enable it.

I have problems restarting my computer, and once I do get it on the time/date are not working. I've replaced the battery and it still does not work?

This is Dell Support, and the Service Manual for the Inspiron 1525/1526,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1525/en/SM/index.htm

Go down on the right side, and click on Coin-Cell Battery.

You will see there are several steps to get to your CMOS battery.

AC adapter not recognized--battery will not charge.

there's only 2 possible issue with this problem and 2 solution.

Solution 1 update the BIOS.

(for DELL system's it will require that the battery still has at least 10% charge meaning that this solution is not going to be possible unless you have another battery that is currently charged. if so go here ) the BIOS version there is A16, if you have a different version you can update it.

Solution 2 replace the motherboard

if the problem still persist after going thru solution 1 there's only one step you need to take, you'll have to replace the motherboard for this type of problem. I hope you still have warranty for this computer, you can either have it shipped at the DEPOT or have an onsite come out to replace it.

hope that helps.

hit me back on the results.

I want to put a 250 gig hard drive in a dell d600 but the bios a16 dont support that much what do i flash the bios with I know they do it as for they are for sale all over ebay with 250 gig.

Dell D600 have EIDE interface not SATA.

If you found EIDE or PATA interface for D600 with 250GB....when you install it divide the partition into 2.(100GB for windows sytem) and the rest will be your second drive.

here is the link for your BIOS upgrade:

The cursor on my dell laptop 1525 moves erratically at times and jumps slightly. I'm wondering if spyware can be the cause? I ran a virus check and no viruses were found. Could it be the internet...

Hate to tell ya, but unfortunately, its an issue with that line of Dell notebooks, especially the Inspiron series. Sometimes the mouse pointer drifts completely on its own. You can try plugging in a PS2 or USB mouse and then disable the mousepad. 90% of the time it helps. Good luck.
