Question about Konica Minolta DiMAGE X1 Digital Camera

1 Answer

DARK PICTURES I just bought a Konica Minolta X1 DiMAGE digital camera. But I bought it used. It looks brand new and the seller had everything that came with it originally including the original box.So far, I have been extremely disappointed with it. ALL od the pics I have taken with it are very dark. I have tried every setting on the flash and it makes no difference. And it does it inside or outside. Could the problem be the lithium-ion battery? The battery gets weak fairly soon after powering the camera up. But even the pics I take at first when it is strong look dark.Any ideas? Or did I get stuck?

I really appreciate the reply but I hope that's not what is wrong. Because I can't get a refund on it since I bought it on eBay and the seller specified no returns were allowed. Maybe that is why he had that. I do have a new battery on the way and I pray that fixes the problem.

However, if it doesn't help, do you have any idea how much it might cost to repair the shutter?

    Thank you for your time.

Well, the new battery arrived today and it was fully charged. So, I installed it hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Well, it was the worst. The pictures are still just as dark as they were before. So, I guess the shutter may be the problem. I paid a lot for that camera because it looked so new compared to some of the others on eBay. I got burned, apparently.

But thank you for the reply.

I just really found it hard to believe this camera had a faulty shutter or any other part due to its pristine condition. So, because I only got one reply to my question, I decided to go to another website and see if anyone else had any ideas. And someone did and he was exactly right. Read the advice below and you will see what it was. And now that I did what he suggested, it works beautifully. I didn't get ripped off after all.
    Thanks, anyway!

Your camera is set to under-expose by 2 stops.

    # Exposure Bias (EV) = -20/10 = -2.00

Resetting this exposure adjustment to 0 will make the images brighter.

I don't have same problem. I used my camera only a couple months ago. Worked fine. Now after recharging battery, the camer "will not" turn on. Purchased another battery, and charged it, thinking that was the problem and again, does not turn on. I paid "alot" of money for this camera, and just don't know what else to do!

I am afraid the shutter is faulty, which means it does not get enough light from the image, however it will still print the image but not in natural light, battery is not an issue here, you can try changing new battery but i don't think the image will change, the bottom line is the camera is faulty and tell the seller for refund if possible.

Of course this problem can be fixed but only temporarily..This is the main problem with LCD screen displays.Either you replace the screen and use it for the time being or sell it off before the liquid leaks out completely.

Unable to use card

What size card is it? You should go to Konica Minolta USA Web-Site and look up your camera under discontinued products to see what the largest card your camera can handle as you may have a card that is to large for your camera format ....
