Re: Clear Ribbon

Well, the "ribbon" that was just pulled was the "RULER" it is the guide of the printhead... as you will look closely there are tiny vertical lines to it and as long as the clear ribbon thing is not broken. Putting it back, you will have to open the printer and insert that ribbon back to the back of the printhead and back to their proper holders. GOOD LUCK.

Pls. rate us properly. Thanks.

Hi, Its not clear what you are saying.
First, what kind of ribbon are you using for printing, and what kind of lamination ribbon are you using?
what are you trying to print on the front and back?

I just bought a Samsung ML 2525 laser printer. the only installation instructions provided is a little piece of paper with drawn graphics. not one word included. no booklet. AND the paper of graphics is...

hi there That ribbon your talking about is a plastic like sheet about 1 cm wide? It shouldn't be longer than the cartridge itself. If yes then you need to pull it out completely.. make sure the cartridge is not tilted otherwise the toner will start spilling.

Hi my Tally printer giving an error Pw Sensor defekt plz advice me

You are seeing the "PW Sensor Defect Error" because the printer is detecting a fault with the Paper Width Sensor.
The Paper Width Sensor is located on the print head carriage and detects the paper edge to prevent printing on the platen.

You can check the follwoing;

  • Ensure the print head cable is not damaged and makes good contact with the printer and print head carriage
  • Ensure the Paper Width Sensor is connected correctly to the print head carriage assembly
  • It may be necessary to replace the Paper Width Sensor

Ribbon stal

In the CT emulation with a coax interface, the ribbon has not moved for 10 minutes after CLEAR was pressed to clear the ribbon drive fault.
Reload the ribbon.

Will not feed full length of label. display reads "ribbon fault" datamax i-4208

You may need to take out the whole ribbon assembly by removing 3 screws. The ribbon sensor looks like a L shaped clear plastic glass.

If still not working. buy the ribbon assembly.

Hi, my printer is printing blanks. Windows XP, Zebra ribbon I replaced the ribbon and still no luck. I tried setting the darkness to maximum, but that didn't work either. I tried the "dump"...

The zebra ribbon has ink on one side and the other side has a backcoating which protects the printhead. simple way to check is to peel off a label and momentarily stick to ribbon and remove. This will show you which side is inked.

If ribbon is installed correctly then reset the printer and re-calibrate it. 1. install labels and ribbon 2. power on printer. If you have a solid green light on then 3 turn printer off. 4 hold down feed key 5 power printer on and after 2 seconds release feed key. printer will perform a calibration routine and eventually print out status page. IMPORTANT 6 Hit Feed Key once more. Printer will display Out Of Dump message. Your printer has now been sucessfully calibrated.

The "ribbon" pulled out

If you mean one of the ribbon cables, they usually go into a thin clip. This clip often has a releasable pressure fitting. Look for where you pulled the cable from and see if the fitting is two toned. If so use your fingernail to either pull the flap forward, to back.. various types. Place the cable back into the slot and press the clip back down.
If the ribbon is a (usually) white cable with a hard clear or blue end, then it likely goes into a solid pressure fitting. Just grab the hard plastic tab and push it back into the slot.

While replacing the ink cartridges a clear ribbon came off. What is this for . My printer is a canon pixma ip1600

The printer needs to be repaired. That clear ribbon is an encoding strip and tells the controller what position the print head is in with respect to its travel back and forth across the platen. The printer will not work without that strip in place.

Clear plastic ribbon came out of printer

Firstly, see if the printer still works. Print something. Then I suggest bringing it into where you purchased the printer. If a twenty month old child pulled it out I am sure it was not burried inside the printer and a Rep at the store can fix it immediately with out cost. Do not let them charge you. Just let them know that this ribbon came out and you do not know where it goes. If the printer works without it, don't worry about it, but keep the ribbon tucked away somewhere and when you go back to the store, when it is convient, have them take a look at it. Let me know how it goes.
