The latch on my saturn is stuck on lock mode, somehow when the trunk was open the latch flipped all the way over to lock position and wont return, so now i cannot close my trunk because the latch hits the piece of metal that its supposed to hook around when you lock the trunk, i have tried my key and this doesnt work, it just wont turn, thanks so much!!
Same thing with my 1998 Oldsmobile 88 i was putting bags for a trip i was going on and slammed the trunk on the bags and now my trunk wont shut... using a screw driver does nothing for the hook/latch or is it a spring???? just want to know where i can get the parts or if a place like autozone or advanced might be able to fix it???Same thing with my 1998 Oldsmobile 88 i was putting bags for a trip i was going on and slammed the trunk on the bags and now my trunk wont shut... using a screw driver does nothing for the hook/latch or is it a spring???? just want to know where i can get the parts or if a place like autozone or advanced might be able to fix it???

You will probably find you have pressed the key lock when the boot was open and the latch on the boot has closed have a look were it locates on the lock bar and see if it is open then if not try with the key unlock button.
This should work or you may need to push it open with a screw driver.
If you hear the sound of the electric latch switch, then it's working but stuck somehow. Just put the key in the switch and turn it to the right and then pull up the trunk or ask someone to help you. it will open. I tried it today and it opened with me. It was stuck from inside by some kind of a broken plastic pieces. Just removed it and now it's working fine. good luck
there is a spring inside the door lock that makes it work this spring is most likely broken try spraying lubricant on the lock just in case its binding ,but it seems like you will have to replace the lock mechanism
The lock latch is held by a spring to be in Normal Close position. It it is in open position then there is 2 possible root causes:
1- The cable pulling the latch to open gets stuck.
2- The spring broken or out of its position.
Hope this can help to fix it.
open the trunk with the key, look on the trunk latch for a (very) small flip latch, this is the valley parking lockout switch. Flip it to the other position, and retry. If that does no work then the cable is broken.
there is a manual switch that is located near the trunk latch for a safty lockout it might have been switched by accident look to make sure.hope this helps.
Your latch may be broken go though the trunk though the back seat. Check to see if the latch is broken; or stuck. There is a little hole where all you have to do is use a screwdriver turn clockwise if trunk opens then your latch is either broken or your locking mechanism is stuck. Good luck and hope this helps you.
I"m having trouble with locking and unlocking my hatch using my remote. I have flipped the white switch in the trunk and it acts as a child safety lock if flipped one direction. However I am not able to open the trunk this way. It acts as a permanent lock. So I figure the switch must be flipped the other direction and need to replace my actuator. Is this hard to do. It looks to me like it two switches holding a bracket to hold the actuator itself after plugging in the actuator from both sides. Is it really this simple?? Is there more to it???
