Heater does not seem to click, spark not evident. fuel pressure appears ok because cone is wet. no heat, no glow, nothing. Did try to clean plug but did not change operation. worked fine last termostat cycle.

Motor starts and runs but heater does not ignite
POSSIBLE CAUSE:
1. No fuel in tank
2. Pump pressure incorrect
3. Dirty fuel filter
4. Obstruction in nozzle
5. Water in fuel tank
REMEDY:
1. Fill tank with kerosene
2. See Pump Pressure Adjustment, page 9
3. See Fuel Filter, page 9
4. See Nozzle Assembly, pages 11 and 12
5. Drain and flush fuel tank with clean kerosene.

Make sure the high voltage lead to the sparkplug isn't touching anything metal on its way to the plug. the clicking may be the high voltage discharging to a metal part, not the plug. those wires age during use.

I have a 2E511C heater that wont fire up but the spark plug is firing

You probably already know this . The 2E511C was manufactured by DESA for Grainger, so you must follow these Reddy Heater troubleshooting tips.

It sounds like the heater is not getting fuel or the fuel is not hitting the spark and you must troubleshoot and find out why.

Contact me for a Dayton to DESA parts cross reference chart.

When filled with kerosene then plugged in, the heater will kick on for about 3 seconds and the fan will run but it will not ignite, then it shuts off. reddy heater 55, 55000btu. runs on K1 or fuel oil.

Heater turns off leaving lots of smoke and is hard starting

If this is a kerosene heater, the wick is most likely not adjusted up enough,or the wick is contaminated. The fuel could be contaminated also.Remove the old wick and replace it,and refuel it with clean kerosene, after you pour the old out.

What is the model number? Could be a number of things, depending on which technology is used on your particular 55,000 btu heater.

Reddy kerosine space heater

bucklehead...I assume you discarded the 2 year old fuel... if not do so. Your fuel delivery problem could be caused by a number of things. 1. Incorrect air pump pressure, 2. worn or restricted nozzle, 3. deteriorated fuel line or air line, which in turn is creating the ignition problem, 4. the spark plug is bad OR you may not have a fuel delivery problem at all - just a photocell that has gone bad or has a wasp nest built betweem the eye and the flame (check this first). If the photocell can't see the flame it will shut the heater down. That's it's only job.

Garage Heater

the kerosine heater uses a spark plug for ignition and a photocell to detect flame. at the back end of the blower motor is an air compressor. it is a vane and diaphragm compressor that supposed to put out 3.6 psi of air to the fuel nozzle. the fuel nozzle is a venturi type that creates a vacuum across the orifice to suck fuel from the tank. try this site for spare parts www dot desatech dot com. its the same place I get parts for repairing heaters.
