Re: help

On Philips LCD and Plasma TV's you can center the picture left and right and also vertically. Use the round joystick in the center of the remote to see of you can shift the image to the left.

If its under warranty take it back immediately!!! If not you will need to have the set diagnosed to pinpoint the problem. You could be looking at a faulty t-con/panel connection (easy fix) or a bad t-con board(inexpensive) or a LCD panel(very expensive) failure !

My 50 inch vizio plasma tv has a 7 inch blue line down the center of the screen and there are a couple white half iunch lines in the center of that. if i hit the input button it will disappear and then...

Since the lines are vertical, the image is lost sideways and the corruption changes with the image then clearly this is a sign of Y-Sus failure, not the Z-Sus or the buffer boards.
An logic or input board failure would affect the entire screen, not just a part of it and a failure in one of the buffer boards would affect strictly defined lines of pixels and the defect would be constantly there all the time.
Since you haven't told us the exact model i can't point you to a replacement board.

Vertical black line on the screen of my 42" Magnavox flat panel lcd tv

I wish I could post a solution, but I don't have one. I too have a Magnavox. About 6 months ago, once every 2 weeks or so, the screen would just go black- all but an inch or two on either side. Now, it seems like it's a weekly thing, sometimes every hour or two. As of tonight, it has happened twice in a matter of thirty minutes. It usually repairs itself if I turn it on and then off again but that's just not working anymore. If anyone has a solution, let me know.

50V500 ONLY
GHOST: May be described as "Out of Convergence" but ghost is still attached to main image.
A "ghost image" appearing to the left or right of images in the picture. Can be varying shades of a primary color (red, green, or blue) as well as gray. Can easily be seen in the 4 x 3 mode, at the edges of the picture.

To correct the problem, please do as follows:
  1. Access I2C Menu. (See page 57 of the Service Manual).
  1. To enter the I2C Service Menu, with power off, (on the front control panel) press and hold the INPUT button. Then press the POWER button for two seconds. The following Service Menu will appear.

  • Be sure to press SELECT after each change to SAVE the new Data.

  1. Using the Remote Control joy stick, scroll down to next page (see Figure 2) until LCD ADJUST is highlighted.
03b_ghost_image02.gif Figure 2
  1. Move the joy stick to the right to cursor right once. The next page will appear with the word GHOST highlighted.
  2. Cursor right again, and a white screen will appear with a BLACK SQUARE in the center, as in Figure 3. You will see LCD ADJUST, followed by “SHP” and a number (value).
Figure 3

  1. If the unit is out of adjustment, you will see a gray ghost on either side of the black square. Move the joystick to the right or to the left until the ghost disappears. The number values will change up or down.
    • If the ghost adjustment is off with a lower value, there will be a ghost to the left of the square.
    • If the ghost adjustment is off with a higher value, there will be a ghost to the right of the square.
  2. Once you get the square to look good without ghosts, press "SELECT" to save any data values that have been changed.
  3. Press the "EXIT" button three times to return to normal picture.
  4. Adjustment is completed

Are you using a cable box? If you are then it maybe setup incorrectly. If not, See if when you press the MENU button if the screen is filled. If it is ok then, then the plasma panel is good, but the video processing is possibly bad. Have you tried all video inputs? Let me know more info and i can assist more. Have a good one. Jay

Blue glow

I have the same issue with my phillips tv. There is a blue ghosting/pixel issue on the left side. It's still under bestbuy's warranty so I am going to call it in for service. It's more visible with hdmi and high resolution inputs. It does take a while to happen. Looks to be a bad screen possibly.
