I think you meant to say at 3 o'clock (see picture). If not, I don't see the clock you speak of. But, try and answer your question ... this is the Timer clock. It's on and waiting to be set.

You might still be able to take photos, it will just happen after 3 seconds.
I think you have the timer on. Turn it off by pressing the Pad left, then Up to select Off and then press the center of the Pad (OK) to cause a check mark to appear next to the Off word.
Try this and let me know what happens.

I apologize, I found a notice about the blinking clock. It is found in the manual under error messages on page 141. Here is the picture. The clock is not set. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work at all because of this, but that's what the icon means.

You bet. If there are other errors. Let me know what they are and I'll help you out. Make sure the batteries are new (not rechargables). Make sure the settings are on Auto and teh card in the computer is the right type. These are usually the basic things to take a photo and beyond that is possibly a problem with the camera. Let me know.
By the way, I read your message again and understand what you meant by a clock on the right that's at 9' o clock. Duh. =) The icon reads 9'o-clock. I thought you meant it was at the 9 'o clock position in relation to the camera.
