No. Nor will it charge through the USB port. It uses the MH-63 battery charger or equivalent. See page 12 of this manual. If you need a charger, there are several available here.

If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

the same cable that came with the camera for USB is also the battery charger cable if you use usb. most of these cameras can be charged from computer or from the wall. so that little jack that your usb cable plugs into is also the charge port, just make sure you have rechargeable batteries in it.

Did you install the drivers to the computer? And install the nikon software to your computer? If you didn't that is probably your problem. Otherwise you can get a cardreader and use it to get your photos on you computer.
