Re: installing with mac

You can configure that router without using the bundle CD. the default ip address for that router is open internet explorer then type the ip address which is then the default username is "admin" (without " ") then password is "admin" also. then you are now on the linksys webpage and you can configure there. it is much easier to use rather than using the bundle CD.
hope this can help you!
good luck

Integrating a mac network

I have an iMac and Canon MP970 printer connected to the router via CAT5 cable and a MacBook Pro that uses the n-protocol of the WLAN. Both work fine and I did not install anything special...
There is really nothing to 'set-up'... What problems are you afraid to experience?

Cant set up router on new macbook pro

Are you trying to run the CD on the MAC computer. CD will not work on the MAC computer. But you can set up the router manually without the CD. Are you able to go online on any other computer . If your router is already set up and you are trying to add MAC computer to the network then you don't need to run the CD. you just need to add the computer to the network. If you are trying to install the router for the first time then you can do it manually. Click Here for step by step solutions

Cannot connect my new Apple MacBook Pro to mt DIR 655. Are there specific drivers to install for the MacBook Pro?

No -there are no drivers to install. I would even suggest not to use any CD that came with the router (in your case the so-called "Quick Router Setup Wizard CD".
It is always better to configure the router by hand, otherwise you have to look forever if you have to troubleshoot.

If you connect your Mac to your DSL- or cable modem, can you access the internet?
If yes, then you have to configure your router. If not, then there is a problem with your internet connection in general and you have to contact your ISP.

Connect to your router (via cable) and check that the SSID is broadcasted and your wireless security is turned off, until you can connect wireless to your router. Look at the manual page 22 (if you don't have a manual, you can get it here.)
  • Enable Wireless: ON
  • SSID: whatever you like
  • 802.11 Mode: MIXED (unless your MAC is 802.11n capable - you can change that later)
  • Channel Width: AUTO
  • Visibility Status: VISIBLE
Then follow the Wireless Security Setup Wizard (ideally do it manually, but this works too). You find a description up from page 64 in your manual. For now, select no wireless security and complete the wizard. Don't forget to save your settings.

Now you should be able to connect to your routerwireless from your Mac.
After this is accomplished, go back to the wireless security setup and secure your network with WPA2 Authentication.

If you have any more questions or get stuck at one point, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Need setup disk for macbook

Unless I am misunderstanding what you're trying to do, the router doesn't have drivers on your system (either PC or Mac). Your Macbook should have an ethernet port, and wire directly to the router. If it has Wi-Fi (I think they call it Airport, but I'm not a "Mac Guy"), it ought to still recognize your router as an available network, and allow you to login (I have a colleague with a Mac who logs in my PC LAN all the time).

How to install D-link DIR 300 for MACBOOK

You shouldn't need to install anything off the CD. Simply plug your Macbook into the DIR-300 via ethernet (making sure you manually set your Macbook's IP to 192.168.0.x (where x is anything from 2-254). Then open up your web browser and type into the address bar. This will log you into the DIR-300 (I think the default login is "admin" with no password).

Refer to the manual for the configuration for the rest of your setup.

Set up with cd on MacBook

yes you are right.. the cd which came with the router will not work with mac or vista computers..
don not worry about it, you can do a manual troubleshooting to fix this problem, i will give you a step by step procedure to fix this problem..try this out ..
To setup your router for a cable modem..
first check..
Connect the Cable modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider. If it can go on line,
to setup connection..
Step 1:
Connect the Broadband modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port.
Step 2:
Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4).
NOTE: In this example, we’ll connect the computer to port number 3.
Step 3:
Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.
Step 4:
check if you are able to go on line wired..
if not your router has to be configured first,
to config your router first check this settings..
Configuring TCP/Settings in MAC OS X
Step 1:
Click the Apple icon, select Location, then choose Automatic.
Step 2:
Select Built-in Ethernet under Show.
Step 3:
Click the TCP/IP tab and select Using DHCP under Configure or Configure IPv4.
Step 4:
Leave the Search domains or Additional search domains fields blank.
Step 5:
Click Apply Now.

You should now be able to access the router’s web-based set up page and configure your router.

Accessing the Router’s Web-Based Setup Page
Step 1:
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer.
Step 2:
Go to the Address bar and enter your router’s IP Address ("" is the default IP of most Links-ys routers) then press [Enter].
Step 3:
A new window will prompt for a User name and Password. Leave the User name space blank, type in your router’s password ("admin" is the default password), then click OK.
Step 4:
When the router’s web-based setup page appears, click the drop-down arrow under the Internet Connection Type field and select
Automatic Configuration - DHCP.and then scroll the page down and click save settings..
Step 5:
Click MAC Address Clone you would find this sub tab at the top in the blue bar.
Step 6:
Select Enable and click Clone Your PC’s MAC.and click save settings..
Step 7:
Click Status at the to right side ion the black bar
Step 8:
Check the value of the Internet IP Address. If the Internet IP Address has numbers, this means the router has been properly configured. You should now be able to access the Internet. If you’re not on-line, perform a power cycle to synchronize the router with the modem.
Power Cycling
Step 1:
Shutdown the computer.
Step 2:
Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3:
Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4:
Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5:
Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6:
Power on the computer on and test the Internet connection.

Now if you are on-line wired remove the cable from the laptop and check for wireless connection

i am sure this would fix your problem in case if you have any more issues revert back to me..
