Question about Radio Shack Pro-97 Handheld Scanner
I had the same problem. the problem is the jack itself, If anyone has ever inserted a plug that is to large it will bend the small tab inside. The correct plug is just a bit smaller. Or else if you use the correct plug but for long periods at a time it can weakin
the tab so that it does not make contact with the center post. The inside tab on the side of the jack must make contact with the center post in order for it to run off of the batteries.
The Solution for this problem ::
TEMP SOLUTION - Is to use a small bent paper clip or jewlers hook to bend the tab back to make contact. however the next time you plug something in it will be the same as before.
THE RIGHT WAY - Is to go to your nearest radio shack and order a replacement
power jack, Its a simple soder conection if you cant do it yourself take it to any respctable elecronic repair shop.
If you want I could do it for you. or help talk you thru it. firstname.lastname@example.org
