I also have the same problem. When I installed it my humidity was at 34%. After 9 hours and a fair amount of cycles it only went up to 38%. I am very interested if anyone has any ideas as to what is going on.

I recently installed this unit on the Cold air Return side of my Furnace. I was advised this was an acceptable choice. the unit runs properly, runs only when the Furnace or fan is on and gets suficient water from the water line and there is no blockage in the line. Why won't the house get more humid? I've turned the humidistat up to 50% for over three days and there seems to be no difference? What should I do or look for?

35% humjidity when its 30-40 degrees outside isn't bad. I don't believe you want it over 40% and a sweating window might be a sign of too much humidity.

I bought the Honeywell by-pass through unit and no change on my humidity. Bought the powered unit and even relocated it in a better location and still nothing. Searched on Ebay for my old Aprilaire unit I had in my old house. 30 years old used equipment and my windows now drip with moisture. By Aprilaire!

Doesn't the float valve on the water sump control the level of water in the sump?

Do you have water to the valve? (Like loose the nut on the tubing-- does water come squirting out?)

If not, you can't get humidity into your system, without water in that sump or pan!
The mat can be turning-- but if it is not SOAKING WET!-- you get no humidity in the house!.

Could the main shut off valve be plugged?--

Bottom line is-- the Humidifier needs a steady supply of water-- It will go thru gallons of water every day, this time of the year!

No increase in humidity after installing whole house humidifier

have you checked the damper ? is the motor running the right direction ? have you increased the water supply to it ? you need to be sure that it is coming on only when you have a call for heat, normally your humidistat should be installed near the return, or on the return duct, for proper sensing, you could try holding a pan of steaming water, placing the stat above it, not to close, to see if the stat shuts off the hum, a little trick, that way you will know if the stat works ok, hope these helped, thanks for the question, mr.grzz

Aprilaire 600: water only runs in "Emergency" Heat mode

When your unit is on normal the outside unit works and the inside only the fan runs. your heat pump does not remove any humidity when it operates so the installation cotractor did not wire it to operate then. you can change the wiring on the humidifier to operate all the time by wiring it to the fan (g) terminal then it should work just turn it all the way to the lowest humidity when you are in cooling mode.

Thanks for your question,
Well thats the big problem with bypass Humidifiers, they use alot of water, is yours running all the time, even when the furnace is shut down ? if it is, its wired in wrong, if not then there is not much of a solution for ya, is the humidity level in the home comfortable to where you can actually turn the house t-stat down ? if not you may want to incress the amount of humidity to be able to turn your house t-stat down, you should be feeling about 3 to 7 degrees warmer with the right amount of humidity, sorry I couldnt be more help, but thats the nature of that unit, just a little FYI, if you ever decide to try something different, may cost a bit more, try a steam humidifier, alot less water usage, its filtered, and pretty reliable too, thanks again for your question, hope atleast part of this helped !

This may not be a solution, but a couple things you might want to look at. First, the humidifier may not be big enough for your house - just because a contractor installed it doesn't mean he sized it right. Second, humidity may only be 30% locally by the humidistat, but higher in other parts of the house - it depends where the humidistat is located. Finally, look at your hot water line - I'm surprised he ran it off hot water and not cold - seems like a waste of energy to me, but the feed line may be clogged by sediment from the water heater

Install HE220 HoneyWell , humidity not increasing in the house.

You can try installing the water line to your hot water if it is installed on cold line for more humidification. You should make sure your humidistat is up line 6" @least from humidifier for proper humidification measurement.

Works too well, can't stop windows from sweating!

I don't know much about humidifiers other than they are rarely needed and most folk around here would rather there was a lot less humidity., especially considering how easily black mould grows and how injurious to health that can be.
Those few people living with an unsuitable heating system in a badly designed house usually find it is adequate to have a water feature in the lounge or to balance a bowl of water on a radiator.

Certainly when the windows sweat to such a degree, especially if you have double glazing, the humidity must be well above the comfort range, above 70%, and probably well into the moist range of 80% - 90%. Higher than that and any exertion becomes decidedly unconfortable...

I am guessing the humidistat is either faulty or cannot work because the humidity is already too high. I suggest you need to check the humidity in your home with an accurate independent humidity meter before you go further...

Fan is running but humidity is not changing

Q: My unit has been running for several hours. I hear the fan spinning, but I do not notice the water level in the tank decreasing.
A:
First, check the filter to ensure it is wet. If the pad appears dry, remove it from the Base and gently rinse under cool water. Reposition wet filter in the Base. You may also want to note the current moisture level in your home. If the humidity level is over 60% the unit will not put out much moisture
as your air is already saturated.

UV bulb and filter are user replacement items

4b54ac1.jpg Comment by Soulvisitor, posted on Jan 20, 2008 If water level in tank is dropping and fan runs then I'd say it is working.

OK?
Comment by Soulvisitor, posted on Jan 20, 2008 Q: I hear the fan turning, but I don’t see any mist. Is my humidifier operating properly?
A:
Dry air is pulled through the system and a fan disperses invisible, moisture balanced air. There is no
“mist” emitted. When operating normally you will feel only cool air coming from the unit. Monitor the
water level in your Tank/ Base. If you notice a decrease in the Water Tank over 24 hours then the unit
is operating normally.
