Re: router

Hi, is your second pc wired using the ethernet cable or wireless?its better if you use an ethernet cable to your 2nd pc. you said that its not pulling the, you have to check the ip address on the pc first because if your pc wont show it then it means that its not detecting your router.

ex: for win xp/vista

start-->run-->type cmd press enter-->you'll see a black screen, type all lower case ipconfig then enter. you should see there default gateway either for lan or wireless that matched the if it does, try going to safemode by restarting pc while tapping f8,choose safemode with networking n try launching it there in your ie, if you dont see the num then troubleshooting needs to be done for you to get the correct nums..its best also if you contact your isp..i hope this helps.

Verizon modem to dynex router to hook up sprint airave.. and nothing is working I did all the set up but cant type in ip address with no internet.. HELP!

Have you tried typing in Or 192,168.1.1?

If so, what happens when you do? One of those addresses should take you to the configuration screen for your router, at which point you should be able to configure your router and go from there.

I tried everything , i hooked up my new router to my modem and begin to set it up and when it came down to connect to the internet it didn't and it said to reboot my modem and i did and it did nothing and...

firstly, go and reset your router again. Then try to set it up again with your manual. Are you 100% sure that all the settings are correct? If so, enter them and everything should work ok. If not, try contacting your internet provider, if there is any special settings you need for your modem to work with your router.

Windows Vista Internet Connection problem

Are you on the wireless internet or on the internet through a cat5 cable? If on through the wireless I think its a wouter issue. try upgrading the firmware of your router first. If that doesn't work try using a different router. Also try upgrading your drivers on your computer for however you are connecting to the internet. Either your network card or your wireless card via device manager. One of those solutions should solve the problem.

Computer can't find the router

Configure your router first, by doing that you need a ethernet cable (cat 5 will do). Connect your computer to your router using ethernet cable and open internet explorer, type in the ip address of your router and press enter. After that, you will be ask for username and password, just key in your username and password (if you cant remember, reset your router and key in the default username and password of your router). Once your done, go to internet setup and you can configure everything there. Hope it helps you.

I have a dir 300 router that when i try to hook it up it i cant

Let me clarify this  your internet works when your PC is hooked up directly to the modem....
When you connect the router between the pc and the modem the internet does not work....
This sounds like the configuration settings inside the router need to be setup or adjusted.
Go to the web browser and type in and for the username type admin and then leave the password blank hit enter and it should sign you into the router. Follow the setup wizard and everything should work just fine.
Hope it Helps!

DI 624- Cant connect from router to computer

Hi mark - please don't rate this til it's fixed. Hook it up the way you had it. i.e. modem>router>pc. Try it, probably won't work. Unplug the power on your modem and the router. After 60 seconds plug in your modem. When all the lights return to normal (except the activity light), plug in your router. Give it 20 seconds or so. Try it and let me know what happens. Thanks.

Cannot complete downloads

when you say that everything works when the router is NOT hooked up to the PC, does that mean that you have the DSL modem connected directly to the computer?

then, when you hook up the router, you're connecting it BETWEEN the DSL modem and your computer?

You probably need to log in to your router and set it up to connect through the DSL modem to the internet: it may not do it automatically.

is this computer running windows XP?

if so, go to control panel, then network connections.

if you double click on the local area connection, and go to the support tab, it should list something like this:

Address type: assigned by DHCP
IP address:
Default gateway:

Try opening internet explorer, and typing in the numbers it lists for default gateway.  hopefully, that will bring up the configuration screen for your router.

Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B Broadband Router connection trouble

You will need to logon the router via the computer, and create a PPPOE internet connection. If you cannot connect to the router wirelessly my may need to use a cat5 cable between the computer and the router. The user manual that came with the router will show you how to do this. If you do not have the manual. Do the following: open internet explorer, in the address window type the IP of the router "example" your router IP should be on the bottom of the router. If not click start/run, type ipconfig at the > the router ip is listed at "default gateway".once you get to the routers logon page enter one of the following: username "leave blank" – username " admin " -or- username "admin" - password 1234 –or- leave password field blank.once logged on the router go to internet connections and select PPPOE enter the username and password provided by your ISP save the settings and you should make the internet
connection now. BPCS
