Creative Labs has always been tough about making their sound drivers available. One trick I found was to go to www.hp.com or www.dell.com and look for creative lab sound drivers there. I have not had any luck getting them from Creative Labs usually I end up purchasing a inexpensive new sound card.

Just replaced HDD in Satellite L305 w/ above HDD. I will be installing Windows XP SP3 on the Toshiba HDD that I just installed, will I need to download the ACHI XP F6 Install tool for this HDD?

ACHi drivers/firmware updates are loaded after xp generic driver installation, you only need to have the drivers handy on a floppy during the xp installation for a raid driver array

I need F6 drivers for Windows XP installation, for SATA and possibly other motherboard features.

not sure why you're installing xp as there's no support for it, you should really be installing win7 as that has 10 years support left.
xp doesn't have any sata drivers for modern motherboards.
the only motherboards the sata driver will work on is the intel dh55hc or intel dh55tc so if you don't have either of those, you're wasting you time.
you need to be installing the driver when the xp installation starts and asks you to press f6 to install sata drivers. do that and it should work.

I bought lenovo G550 last week. It came with Windows Vista. I want to install Windows XP on it. I have found that lenovo has driver for windows XP so that will make my life easy :-) But when I try to...

you are most likely getting a BSOD with a stop error code of 0x0000007B which is caused by the Windows XP CD that you are using doesn't have the SATA Hard Drive controller driver needed to recognize and utilize the hard drive. If Lenovo has XP drivers for this model then they should have a SATA driver (roughly 394k) that will need to be loaded FROM A FLOPPY DISKETTE during the boot to XP. (XP Requires the driver to either be slipstreamed into the CD or loaded from a floppy diskette. Trying to load the controller driver USB or a different CD will not work)

Halt error 4 when installing XP on Vista

XP does not have a SATA driver on the installation CD, you need to either download a SATA driver and when XP ask at the start of the installation you need to provide a SATA driver for the hard disk, press F6, the driver is usually installed from the floppy disk. Alternately if your BIOS will allow you to set up the SATA drive as a ATA drive, do so and after XP is installed then install the SATA driver.

Installing windows xp on hp pavilion dv 6516 tx

I'm not sure solution #1 is very explanatory, so....

IF you want to install XP on your computer, Windows XP will load most of the drivers you need automatically.
For the drivers that are specific to your HP pavilion
you will be able to download device drivers from HP website
or, request a driver CD

When XP is installed [assuming you or someone can do that]
you can:
Go to the 'My Computer' icon [right-click]
Choose:
  • 'Properties'
  • Then Choose 'Hardware'
  • Finally, choose 'Device Manager'
Here you will have a list of all your hardware
If you have any drivers that need to be installed, there should be
a yellow (?) question mark by the name of the hardware

Most devices/hardware will be handled by XP SP2
The default drivers will be loaded automatically
For example, your keyboard:

e83fe6a.jpg

Above you see the window that opens if I double-click on
the 'Keyboard' icon.

For XP to function, you only have to worry about the ones
with the yellow (?) question mark

Or, if you want to add a specific driver, like a Video or Sound driver, but you don't see a yellow (?) question mark
you can still install/update the driver at the 'driver' tab
[second tab in the picture above]

If you need more specific help I can do that too
