Won't charge I have my laptop plugged into the power cord, but it won't even charge. It doesn't say that the cord is plugged in, let alone charging. I had that wiggling probem with it, where if I moved it even slightly, it wouldn't work until I moved it to a certain position. I know it's not damaged, because I've taken good care of it, and I checked the cord. There aren't any holes or cuts or anything on it.

The plug in terminal that is soldered to a board inside the laptop has a loose solder connection. This procedure require opening the laptop and some soldering iron, and some solder. If you are not confident in doing this don't try it cuz you can mess up your laptop forever.

My Asus Eee PC 1001PXD battery won't charge. The charges light is on but nothing happens and now the battery is completely dead and I cannot get my notebook on

Your problem is far more than the battery. Your problem is the power cord. Laptops for the most part will work off the power cord even if the battery is dead or even if the battery is not in the laptop. Your power cord charges your battery and if it is bad it will not charge it. You've been working off your battery even though you might have had the power cord plugged in, but if it's bad and not charging the battery, the battery drains and then you can't get the laptop to power on at all. Go purchase a ac adapter and power cord that is designed for your system. Don't buy one that some of the big box stores sell that has a an interchangeable plug at the end designed to fit just about any laptop. Those will eventually burn *********** board out.

I hadn't charged my Sony Vaio model PCG-61611L for a couple days. Then when I finally plugged it in to charge, it won't turn on. I even left it plugged in for a few days and still nothing. It has...

Try A Hard Reset

Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Sony Vaio laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop.

This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset.

Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord
and turn your laptop on.

If that does't work try removing ram and reinstall. Sometime this works with these laptops.

My MSI U100 Netbook won't charge. I purchased a new battery, and it still won't charge. So the battery was not the issue. Can the the AC power cord go bad as well and I should replace it? Or is...

Yes the AC Cord does go bad , you can also look at the power jack at the back of the Laptop to see if it is loose when you plug it in. I always start with the plug they are usually cheaper than a battery.

My HP Mini 'sees' the installed battery and tells me it is charging it (while plugged into the wall). It works normally while plugged in, but won't even start from the battery alone.

Hello.

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Hope this helps.

ALIENWARE DESKTOP LOST ALL POWER

In a laptop, you can lose power in three ways.
1. Dead battery 2. Dead Power cord. 3. Bad motherboard.
ther first two should be rather obvious, as the battery won't work or it won't hold a charge, but if it won't turn on at all, even while plugged in, chances are that you're going to need a new motheboard. This can be expensive in the M--x laptops, unfortunately.
Sorry for the bad news, mate.
